Hello, I've finished my build of the Workbee 1010, a lot is working and I was able to draw the HELLO WORLD on a piece of paper ! and here are some pictures of the build, with my two son's (6 & 8 years old) who built almost 95% of it... Especially the older one, I was tired of buying him LEGO Technic for 14 year old kids... so let's start serious work here He built almost all the mechanical part of the Workbee, following the books !! of course under my supervision, especially for the alignment, squaring, adjustments, tightening torque... and the final electric setup.
I'm quite happy how "easy" the starting was. Some small notes: The small screw of the lock collar that tighten the left acme screw is coming into contact with the 3D printed "arm" that hold the start of the dragchain when the screw turns. I had to dismount and file the 3D printed part. I had to dismount all the CNC XPRO assembly to insert the ... bluetooth receiver on the plate... not funny A small note in the book "for those who bought the bluetooth key..." About the fan mount for the XPro, the center screws are too long and are too close of the bluetooth receiver. as for now, The fans are attached only with two screws, not a problem I think I also had hardware problems due to transport and some small missing items, but Ryan addressed all of them very quickly... Have a look at how some Vslot where after opening the package... Ryan sent me new one and I later used them at a less important place to "enhance" the bed. Thanks Ryan, very professional support !!!
So, now, what ? - I have to connect the spindle (I have no wiring plan in the spindle) to the VFD - I would like to control the spindle and power supply from the XPRO - I have to find the right spoilboard for my work and how to attach my pieces... I will start cutting plywood, 6mm to 22mm with flutes 1 to 2mm I have no Idea of feed speeds, depth of cutting etc... I will try to not break too many flutes I would like to learn to use properly Fusion 360 For attaching pieces and the bed (MDF) to the frame, any bright idea ?
sebcbien. The machine is looking great. Good job. I wish this had all been around when my son was that age. He too grew up on Lego and Model Railway. He's in his 30s now and works for Williams F1 now, but I know he would have loved it. About the Spindle/VFD, do a Search in the Resources area up top, there is lots of information for you there.
Thanks, I had a look ! Today I tried to use the X-pro bluetooth dongle adapter to connect to the X-Pro... Well, it's veeeery slow... almost unusable. I tried to find some setting to change but found nothing...
looking good man! did you have any issues with wheels lining up, or spinning freely (ie, not enough adjustment on the eccentric nuts)? or any other issues with the machine? and bluetooth almost unuseable...did you talk to spark concepts about it at all?
