Has anyone tried anything like a multi-material 3d printer extruder using a single extruder stepper and multiple solenoids to actively switch between multiple filaments without needing an entirely separate motor for each color/material? It seems like if such a setup were feasible it may allow for something akin to Prusa's MMU, but with an arbitrary/scalable number of pre-threaded spools.
