While setting up my spoilboard and putting some holes in it I realized my z was not returning to the 10mm that I had set for a retract height. I had problems during my build getting the drive collar to stay tight on the drive screw and thought I had it fixed but I guess not. Anybody have any trouble with this or have any recommendations on a good fix.
If you're talking about the coupling between the motor and the leadscrew, you may want to consider making a flat spot on the leadscrew with a grinder similar to the flat spot on the motor shaft.
Ahh, so the gear is slipping on the leadscrew? The flat spot on the leadscrew is still an option. Or is the belt slipping on the gear?
Yes the gear is slipping. It has a split collar that goes inside of it that is suppose the clamp on the lead screw so I am not sure the flat spot would help. My and up just making it direct drive like the other motors and the it will have a set screw.
Nothing to lose by trying. Add the ground flat spot on the lead screw that SugarJ suggested and you should be good to go.
Hi I had the same problem. Since the lead screw is slightly undersized (7.8mm) compared to the pulley 8mm bore (is that the proper term?) it’s hard to get enough clamping force. I added a shim around the lead screw. A piece of aluminum cut from a soda can worked well for me. That fixed the issue for me. I hope this helps.
Thanks for the reply. I thought about that but ended up drilling and tapping a hole for a set screw and that seems to have done the trick.
