So i Just purchased a lead1515 and need recommendations for a spindle or router to get. I'm getting the black box controller.
I went with th Lead 1515 also and so far am very happy with it. I also have the Black box controller. The RoutER11 the store sells is nice and so far works well for me, Especially after spending a lifetime in the trades listening to the noise of Dewalt and Makita routers as the other is a little quieter and the speed adjustment are a little more variable. Just my opinion if it helps.
They are currently out of stock for that option, so I wasn't able to go with that. All they had was dewalt.
A spindle is a good option, as they are quieter. But the dewalt or the RoutER11 is a good option as well. All depends on what you want to do with it and the price point your looking to be at. I went for a spindle and am quite happy with it! But, I run it in the house, and the lower sound was a nice to have. In the end, if your comfortable with the electronic setup, the adjustability of the spindle with either a pwm or a 0-10v connection is nice, but the thumb jog isn’t hard. So. I guess, either will work. Just what your want to run. that was a round the answer type of answer.
Spindles are generally more accurate with higher quality bearings. Routers are not really designed for long term lateral torque. Less runout as well. They all have their upsides and downsides, if you are just using wood and plastics, router is fine, if you want higher accuracy and to cut or mill metals.. I would go with a spindle..
If you don't mind buying from China look up AliExpress. Search for 'Brushless Spindle'. It may only be 500W but that is most likely enough for wood or plastic cutting and even light aluminum cutting.
