TLDR: I feel lucky for having the OpenBuilds community I say thank you every time someone helps me out on here but it never feels like enough. Peter and David you always come to the rescue and I am super grateful. The comments from other members are always really helpful with a genuine interest in helping me. Here is how I started in the CNC world: After the 2019 floods in Townsville Australia my house was destroyed along with everything I owned bar my computer, 2 sets of clothes and my step dads car that I was borrowing at the time. The family friends that took me in had a CNC router made purely from wood with a lead screw setup but basically wood sliding on wood for the rails. I had no work and no home so I got stuck in and got the machine working quite well with lots of help. The father of the home had a cricket bat company where he hand carved bats and thought the CNC might help in his production. By the end of 2019 I had to move to Cairns to live with my family as their family also needed their space back. My nieces other uncle owned a ute canopy and boat fabrication company. He bought a CNC and my sister said I might be interested I still work there to this day. I don’t have enough money saved back up yet to be able to financially support groups such as OpenBuilds. All I can offer is my gratitude to those that have helped anyone else in the OpenBuilds community. Thanks for helping me. Thanks for helping others. I am still doing it a bit tough, but I am a lot better off than I would expect to be if I hadn’t happened by the OpenBuilds Blackbox (my favourite piece of technology to date) which in turn brought me here. I have other circumstances that hinder me interacting with others however that isn’t an issue here. It’s very comfortable and I only worry that I ask too many questions sometimes or that people might get frustrated that I am not understanding the information the first time. Honestly though here, I would be ok if someone telling me to go back and just read something again, because I understand they have a genuine belief it will help get me there. Have a great day, jump high over any hurdles and keep being an awesome group of people!
Sean, thank you for spending the time to share your story with the OpenBuilds community and Team. As you can imagine, a lot happens in the background to make it all possible and it means the world to us all to know that you see the true mission of this company which is helping others. we are truly blessed and honored to be a part of such a great network of others who show each and every day that they share this same mission as well. God Bless brother and thanks again.
