I can't ever seem to be happy with my machines-I always need to take them to the extreme. Well I have decided I need a 1500mm wide machine so I can cut cabinet fronts and panels out for making more storage in my shop. I have found one source for a 1500mm 1616 ball screw, and I ordered it up-but it seems to be stuck in customs (from Canada eh). I actually purchased from their ebay store, since the exchange rate made it cost less than ordering from their web store. https://snbinc.ca/store/ On a side note, these guys have acme tr8 stainless steel in 1500mm lengths, but I think the whip on that would be pretty bad. I'm really not sure that a 1616 screw is going to fit well on a c-beam gantry, will most likely have to cut new plates for it. I don't recall any c-beam builds running a lead screw, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Has anyone found a source located in the U.S.? What I'm really looking for is a 12mm acme style, as I have a few builds going that could use a standard style lead screw.
Well I guess the same guys I ordered a ball screw from also sell tr12 screws...Doh.. Still looking for a US supplier though. There are a couple tr12 lead screws on ebay, but that does no good since there are no end supports or lead nuts to be found...

But as they manufacture them themselves, they may be able to make whatever you want. If you would consider 1/2" rather than 12mm, options are fairly wide open. I used the McMaster Carr 1/2"-10 5:1 for my 1500 mm lengths. I don't notice any whip problems. I made my own anti-backlash nuts from a 3/4"x6"x6" delrin block I also purchased from McMaster Carr, by making a tap from the acme rod cut-offs.
