Hi all, Not sure if this question belongs here but ... I am periodically getting a cannot connect to server error message when I try to use the mobile jog widget. It happens with both safari and firefox and my internet connection is working. While not catastrophic, I use the widget all the time. Any thoughts? Thank You, dkw
Its not an Internet connection, its a direct LAN connection between phone and PC running CONTROL. Thus ensure both are on the same LAN and can see each other
Got it. It's reconnected now, the phone and computer connection works most of the time. I've never set up an LAN and I don't see a reference to it in the network settings. What am I looking for? Thanks! dkw
Yes, I understand what an LAN is and does, I can't find any reference to it on my computer or phones network settings. I would like to be able to "reset" when I get the the "cant find the server" message. I never created the network and can't find it. "Thus ensure both are on the same LAN and can see each other". Thanks.
Your home network. It should already exist. On your premise. Ie same wifi network, or if the PC is plugged into a network cable, well, make sure its in the same network too. Its got nothing to do with us, you bring your LAN we just transfer data across it between two devices on it (server being the PC running CONTROL, and client being the mobile page on the mobile device) If you need help setting up a reliable home network call your local Dial-a-nerd, we unfortunately don't provide IT services That's WAN, and if you assume you can have the mobile device on the Internet (mobile data on, wifi off or out of range for example) reach your LAN (private network) it won't work. Both needs to be on the inside private (LAN) network. As you mention internet specifically i can see you haven't got a complete view of the fact that all comms here is local. No Internet involved
Never implied that it did, just looking for some help troubleshooting a glitch through a network of users that might have some insight. thanks.
That's about the only thing in your control. Making sure the phone is on the local (wifi) network (internet access proves nothing as that might be via mobile data) If it is, and it still doesn't see it, its a network, firewall, kind of issue
It is working fine now and usually does, I will chalk the occasional dropped com up to ghost in the machine. Thank you for all the info, enough spinning of wheels... B-)
