    Hi all,
I built my 25"x25" Solsylva build a few years ago and I've been able to make some amazing projects with it. I use a Makita laminate trimmer with a HobbyCNC controller and LinuxCNC. I'm now starting to push the limits of the machine and am looking to upgrade it. The main limitations of this machine are:

    - a 500x600mm work area and I can not work with stock thicker than 50mm.
    - the X axis max speed of 1800mm/min and Y axis is 1600mm/min.
    - the Z axis isn't stiff enough, there is considerable flex in the router mount.
    - the static components are all made from pine and it uses a 25mm stainless steel tube for the rails.
    - there is no easy way to tram the router.

Currently the Y axis is a dual lead screw design driver off a single stepper motor using a belt and pulleys.

    Questions:
I am wondering whether I can use the Open Builds C-beam linear actuator for all 3 axes. Can I use two 1000mm C beams for the Y axis and run them off a single stepper as it does now, use a 1000mm C Beam for the X-axis and a 500mm C Beam for Z?
Is 1000mm too long for a lead screw?
Should I be able to push such a rig beyond 4000mm/min?

    Thanks in advance,
    Allistar.
