VFD Programming - Help!

    My old router burnt out and I decided to upgrade to a water-cooled spindle with a VFD. I purchased a Huanyang Water Cooled Spindle 2.2kW 110v

    VFD Model No.: HY02D211B

    The issue I'm having is the programming. I've gone according to the manual and the unit didn't work. I've tried to look online to find videos that show the programming process, follow them to a T and then it still doesn't work. I cannot seem to get the spindle spinning for more than 3 seconds. It'll ramp up like it's going to start, slow down and it'll give me an error code of E.oA.A. I cannot find anything online in regards to that error code and what it means online. I don't have the VFD connected to BlackBox because I prefer to run them independently. However if the only solution is to run them together I will do whatever makes it spin! lol Can anyone guide me in the direct direction?

    I don't doubt it. It's confusing because there are many different videos on how to set this unit up. Do you know of a link or downloadable pdf to follow in order to have the proper parameters?

    We also disconnected the wiring assembly that's connected to the spindle and realized there were two wires that melted together. Could that attribute to the error code?

    The advice here would always be "best to ask the vendor" - as they know (or should) what it should be. VFD parameters reflect the specifics of the attached motor - so they must know what the motor they supplied, needs

    Definately, install proper rated cables and see if it persists?

    Are you making sure to do a factory reset of parameters to start? PD013, setting it to 8 is how you do that. Page 28 on the manual linked.

    I would read through that thread completely and also use the manual to make sure you are setting the right parameters.

    Also, I found a link to this guide here, but I'm not sure which thread, so I'm going to upload it again. It was very helpful.

    Thanks for this post, Torin3. And I know the comment is almost a year old. But it got me 98% there. My only problem now is that the spindle can't be shut off (0 rpm) using OB Controller. I can run it to 10,000, 18,000, etc. (the pot is set perfect), but when I use either the "Tool Off" button or the M5 command it drops to 6000 rpm and won't go any lower. Even if I enter something like "m3 s0" or "m3 s4500" it only goes down to 6000 rpm.

    I have to use the "STOP" button on the VFD to be able to turn the spindle off, but then have to power cycle the VFD and BBMC to be able to set the spindle speed with OB Controller again. Any suggestions?

    Edit: My VFD is a HY02D211B, Spindle is the 2.2kw (24,000 rpm) that came with it from Amazon.

    Usually just a parameter (min freq, etc) that still needs adjusting. Refer your VFD manual
    Also see docs:blackbox:connect-vfd [OpenBuilds Documentation] and in an extreme case (but find the parameter first), see docs:blackbox:jumper-relay [OpenBuilds Documentation]

    I'll look a little deeper into that, but I've already changed the min freq parameter to everything from 0 to 50 to 200,300,400 with the same results. I'm kind of out of ideas so I thought I'd break down and ask directions. LOL

    That video is what started me on the journey of doing all of this. It is a great video, and gave a lot of good advice. However, my VFD isn't the same as his. I cross-referenced the manuals and his PD072 and PD073 are switched vs. mine. Not sure why, but that was a pretty big problem.

    I've pretty much got it working just fine now, except that when I try to turn the spindle off using OBC it will only drop to 6000 rpm and no lower. To shut off the spindle I have to use the "STOP" button on the VFD and then power cycle the VFD before I can use OBC again. Not perfect, but it works good enough to get through a job. I'll start messing with it again after I de-frazzle my brain.
