    Hi

I'm new here and I would like to ask for advice. I build a simple linear cutting device based on Makita milling cutter. I'm cutting only HDPE plastic (6-12mm thick), milling bit is 4mm specific for plastics. Problem is vibrationson cutter. Do I need to make main profile stiffer?. Please see attached movie. Any advice fow to fix it without .....buying milling plotter ?

How to calculate V-Slot® deflection comes into play yes. That large bit has cutting forces excerted into directions opposite the cutting forces. The frame has to be rigid enough to resist that force - or it will Chatter.

Doubling up the C-Beam is one option

check wheel tightness too, the various Openbuilds assembly videos tell you exactly how to set wheel tension (we need a resource fo this!).

feedrate is much too high to expect smooth cutting.

you need better clamping too - one corner clamp is not a good idea.

Can you make C-Beam be made adjustable so that one edge of the plastic sheet is against the C-Beam? Your video showed the plastic sheet been held down by one clamp.
