I am as far from an electrical Engineer as I can get so forgive my ignorance. I notice that none of the kits offered in the Openbuilds store include Stepper Motor Drivers. At what point do I need to consider including Stepper Motor Drivers? I am looking to see if I can convert my existing controller box over to the Blackbox controller.

All I can tell you about the existing CNC router table is that I built it from an early Dave Gaton kit and used a "plug and play" controller and motors from Xylotex. It uses a parallel port (requiring an old NT computer) and is not easy to add to.

    Thanks
    John McCormick

The blackbox has (very good) stepper motor drivers built in. It has been designed to be as easy to set up and use as possible.

Thank you, Master Chambers. I knew that it had stepper motor drivers built-in. I guess I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to burn anything up with my existing NEMA 23 motors. I am not sure how much power they require. Your response was appreciated.

You might see if you can pull a model number off the steppers so you can track down some better information on the steppers. In general though probably not much to worry about.
