Joe here, I'm trying to build a small CNC mill. I would like to know if a black box would run two nema 23 and a larger nema 34. or would it be better to use a Smoothe Board.

Depends on the actual specs. NEMA is but a mounting pattern, describing the bolt hole pattern and face dimensions. It says nothing of its electrical specs. :)

You need the coil voltage, inductance, resistance and amperage ratings.

It will have no issues with the NEMA23s (those are our motors yay)

The NEMA34 will run, although underpowered by about 50%. You might be better off with a NEMA 23 Stepper Motor - High Torque Series instead - as the BlackBox can drive it more efficiently.

The mill I’m using it a grizzly G0463, and has a rather heavy spindle assembly, not sure if high Torque Series would work.
