I'm going to build my first CNC machine, the larger c-beam. I'll probably lift the Z-axis for more clearance. I'd love to use this smoothieboard for that build.
I'm currently using an Arduino based board in an external box. This controller runs both a 500x880mm OpenBuild CNC and a 60watt Laser. I would like to swap out the Arduino for a Smoothieboard making this controller compatible with LaserWeb/CNCWeb.
I would use it for for second year level three engineering course project for a cnc router/laser cutter with quick switch between the two.
I would use a smoothieboard to control a desktop cnc mill. I use one currently on my homemade delta printer and it works very well!
I'm working on an idea for a multi-filament extruder that would be perfect for a board like this. Additional steppers and temp circuits would be very nice to have.
I'd use a Smoothieboard for better control of my in-progress delta bot. It has 0.9deg steppers and needs 32-bit.
I would upgrade my original delta (Delta Force) from BBB/Cramps to Smoothieboard. I just started the upgrade ball rolling after calibrating and proving out the DReD-Bot (D-bot Build). The delta is in for an all-over upgrade - linear rails/bearing, new stronger carriage design, titan aero, ir bed leveling, small touch screen control, maybe some 0.9 deg steppers, and a total re-wire job (swapping controls to bottom from top.
I'm planning on building a delta (it'd be my first delta) and a 32bit board would be awesome! It'll be my 3rd printer... Do I have a problem? haha
I would use it to build my HIGHLY customized C-Beam Machine. I have one in the works right now and this board would allow me to take it to a whole new level, maybe even a hybrid mill/3D printer.
For sure i will use it in the Dbot i am getting the parts for. It will save me to be worry about the control board.
The Delta printer I'm in the process of building! The brains is the last part im up in the air about! Cant decide between a smoothie board and a Duet. This would certainly make up my mind pretty quickly haha
As an engineer with lot of mechanical design and ideas I would love to build my first cnc gantry router. This would be a solid start to be able to make more machines and prototypes.
I've been thinking about building either a D-Bot, or maybe a larger aluminum framed cartesian. Just gotta find room to build it in the house!
Doing my first real build (previously made a tiny 3d printer from cd drives from an instructable and my prusa i3 clone from a kit). Trying to make a large enclosed delta printer with auto-leveling and a 3 into 1 mixing extruder for color 3D printing, and ultimately I'd like to hack together a 5-into-1 mixing extruder to get full color with black and white. Already have the components for it, and the skeleton of the frame is assembled - basically a 2020 Kossel at this point, but the electronics bay, bed holder, and power supply will be made from up-cycled e-waste. The smoothieboard would be much better for this than the cheap MKS GEN clone I can afford on my grad student salary.
Building a large format printer, 2500mm x 800mm x 800mm for printing surfboards. Smoothieboard would be ideal
I would incorporate the smoothie into a multi purpose controller box that can be moved between projects
