I've got some of these drivers to go with my new CNC:
    Digital Stepper Driver 1.0-4.2A 20-50VDC for Nema 17, 23, 24 Stepper Motor

From what I read, the logic inputs are all isolated, so I don't want to share a common ground between the controller and the motor power supply.
However I read a lot of people saying that they are supposed to share a common ground. This video uses a similar driver to mine and it doesn't look like the grounds are linked:
    DQ542MA Wiring Methods

So who do I listen to?
Are the people saying to link the 2 grounds talking about drivers that don't have isolated inputs?

You can share GND or not, doesn't really make a difference on this level of wiring. Around more industrious setups, it becomes more important.

Ok, thanks for the info. I'll leave them separated then, because that seems to be what the drivers are suggesting
