    Hello guys.

This is bit of a beginner question for a project that I am half way into.

Step one for the project will be outlining my design with a 1/8 end mill.

Step 2 will be pocketing the design with a 1/4 end mill.

If I set the work zero position for the 1/8 end mill I understand that when I make a manual tool change to 1/4 end mill, I will have to reset the Z position. Do I need to reset for Y and X zero positions for the wider 1/4 inch end mill or will y and x remain the same?

Just cant get my head around this.

    TIA.

P.S I set work zero by eye rather than using a probe

X and Y will remain the same because they are set at the centre line of the bit. Your cam software "knows" this and allows for the diameter of the bit when it calculates the toolpath.
Only reset Z when you change the bit.
