Hello All, I am currently running a WorkBee CNC set up. with screw drive (not belt drive) I have a full enclosure and vacuum head for chip clearing. (the controller is mounted in a separate enclosure with its own cooling system outside the milling enclosure.)

motors are motech motor mt-2303hs280aw-c Nema 23 57mm
controller is a Duet 2 ethernet.
power supply is a 24v PS.

the problem I'm having is this is my second Duet 2 after all the drivers on the first board fried. this second board I've already fried 1 board driver and the wires are getting charred at the connection to the board. I thinking I'm drawing to much current but I'm not sure how to stop this the board has the drivers limited to 2.8a but clearly its over drawing the limiters.

Also my screws are making a growling noise as it moves what causes this?

What are my options? where should I go from here?

The Duet 2 is not guaranteed to supply 2.8 amps - that's the maximum "after further testing", and with significant cooling. I would suggest limiting the current to 2.4 amps.
That provided more than enough torque to rip a chunk out of my 18 mm mdf spoilboard when I stupidly left a cramp in the way - the machine didn't hesitate and didn't lose any steps.

First thing to try to stop your leadscrews making a noise is to spray them with a DRY lubricant such as silicone or ptfe - no oil.

    Alex.
