Having nothing (productive) to do one day at work, I stumble on the high Z mod discussion here on OB. I was intrigued on the topic but since I have a Workbee that I picked up on CL a couple of years ago. I could only imagine upgrading my machine until I saw the drawing that Rick 2.0 (thank you) did in Sketchup. I down loaded the drawing then started to formulate some ideas in adopting the OB high Z to the Workbee…so I ordered the OB high Z kit. I have the cnc mounted to a foldup movable table and I would have a storage issue with the full 8” upgrade so I opted to lop off 2” over all on the height and still ended up with over 7” of travel. After a couple of mock-ups to ensure everything would work as planned, I started cutting and fitting things together. It was much easier than I thought it would be.

I did have to buy a few extra parts:

    Flange bearing sku 2215

C beam end plate sku 965

C beam motor mount plate sku 2330

    Double end caps…(optional)

You can use the 4 long screw that come in the kit for the wheels, you’ll have use the 4 long spacers that came in the kit for this as they are a bit to long or buy some 55mm screws.

I did have to change some wiring but depending on what you have, you may not have to do that.
