Hello, I have finally buy a full Workbee kit but the biggest one 1,5m x 1,5m on ooznest. So now the I need to find a solution to store it in my garage I have a very stable and robust table but the dimensions are 1,8m x 1m so I would like to know if i need to add something like a torsion box to extend my table or if the structure of the Workbee is ridgid enough to exeed of 25cm on the left and right? Also I woul like to know if the leveling of the table is something very important because currently my table is mounted on balls and I would like to keep it but of course my ground is not 100% leveled. Hi @Benjamin Vg, the flatter and stiffer the base for your workbee the better. 25cm is a lot to hang over the edge of your table - a torsion box would be ideal, but I think you need to extend your table top somehow. I haven't built a torsion box for my workbee yet (I will one day ) - it's on a plywood base stiffened by battens. I don't think level is as important as flat, but if your table has one or more legs unsupported then there will be a lot of vibration (and noise) - vibration is not good with bits of your machine possibly working loose. I just made a new table top to fit over existing work bench and strengthened with heavy duty L brackets then bolted everything through to sub table...very sturdy see my build for details you may be able to glean or improvise on something from that Regards C
Here is a sample pic of my machine. I had an old workbench laid around so I fashioned a new (wider) top for it from MDF and stud wall timbers. In hindsight, I should have used ¾ Plywood. for the fact that MDF is subject to moisture and can swell. This doesn't really affect me as yet as the stuff I make doesn't call for critical tolerances. but I just thought I'd mention that point. Regards C
Thx I had finally found your post. Due to the size of the machine 1m50 x 1m50 and the available size of the mdf and plywood. I am doing it (in progress) in MDF in place of plywood because I had to buy 4 panels and it become a bit too much. I store some mdf since a long time in my garage and never had any moisture yet so I hope that is will stay like this. Thanks for the advices! REgards,
