    Hi there,

I should start of by saying I'm a novice on the side of CNC's so might not be as clued up as others but I've tried to learn as much as I can and still do.

I have a Workbee 1000x1000 machine that I enjoy though am looking at upgrading, to save on setup time, and to scale up production. I was wondering if anyone could recommend some upgrades to the machine if they're familiar with it?

I'm currently looking at getting - Deluxe WorkBee Taller Y Side Plates (Seen at Openbuilds) | eBay

There are a few more workbee "upgrade" plates but I can't really see the use for them such as -4-Wheel Z Gantry plate for Sphinx or WorkBee CNC (seen at Openbuilds) | eBay

I haven't suffered any backlash as far as I'm aware so that one seems a bit redundant.

I currently use the Dewalt 26200 which is a small router I have looked at the Chinese water/air cooled routers as an upgrade though any other router that would be manageable would be great just to make use of some larger collets to make material removal a bit easier. I produce guitar parts so just looking for ways to take on larger workloads but maintain rigidity of my system and produce quality parts for customers (though most of that falls on me)

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Calum

Before you upgrade your y plates, consider lowering the baseboard, it can often achive the same effect for considerably less cost.

I think there is an upgrade kit for linear rails, that i myself have been contemplating. I kind of like the idea of getting rid of the wheels on the Y axis, which would allow me to connect the baseboard to the sides and thereby stiffen the whole thing considerably. - but it's just a thought at the moment. first up i need to get the limits of what the current setup does :)
