I have connected my new X32 to a CNC system I am building. It will operate the XYZ axis okay and will connect to the interface okay. I have updated the firmware and sent a M3 S1000 command. I am getting 0 volts out of the output. What am I missing?
Provide a Grbl Settings backup for review please along with pictures of wiring. Any earlier wiring issues that could have shorted out the 0-10v? (Best to declare otherwise will keep working problem)
This is all new so there is no earlier wiring. Ohmeter shows open circuit when unplugged and zero volts when plugged in and turned on.
PSU wasn't wired up with reverse polarity by any chance? noticing you have Black (usual color for negative/gnd) wired to the positive terminal there
No. I checked that. I just used a spare piece of wiring. I allow myself to stray from AC power protocols when connecting DC. I guess it should actually be black and red where black is the ground I think.
In case you were still working on getting this working or if anyone else in the future has this issue. I had the same problem a few months back when I bought my X32. It turned out to be something in my GRBL settings even though they were all set correctly. When I setup my X32 I imported my working GRBL file into the desktop software and flashed to the X32. Everything else seemed to work fine but the 0-10v was not working right. I worked with the helpdesk and we checked a number of things but at the end of the day I decided to start with a fresh GRBL settings file in the control software and entered everything manually with the same settings. It now worked and has ever since. Not sure how why what or otherwise it didn't initially work but that solved it for me.
Interesting. You wouldn't happen to have a non-working backup (off the X32, post migration but not working) we can compare against your current backup? Its an interesting one if that was the case, would love to know what parameter it was so we can keep an eye out for it.
I'll see what I can dig up, I do have some older files I can see if they are in the working timeframe or not. I was not so smart around that timeframe and did not have a backup drive on this machine and a Fusion post processor (not OB one) was kind enough to perma erase my desktop and every folder on it. I recovered some files with a deep scan software just not sure if they are pre or post so I'll check.
Would it be possibble to get a copy of your current backup file? I would like to see if I can find something out of order. Thanks. Lorne
