hi i am having an issue with the motor directions, when i test the Y axis the motor seem to be going the opposite directions(right motor is + and left motor is -) is this a grbl setting issue. i will be double checking that i did not accidentally wired the motors wrong, also the X axis moves left when i toggle X+ when it should be moving right and the X - axis moves right when it should be moving left. i did follow the exact grbl setting on openbuild for my workbee1510. Z axis is working fine Z+ moves up, Z- moves down. any help would be greatly appreciated.
For the belt driven Workbee, you need to make sure your Y2 motor wires are inverted. Sound like you wired both your Y and Y2 identical. This means they will spin the same direction which you do NOT want. They need to spin in the opposite direction in order to move both ends of the gantry in the same direction. Go to 1:09:08 mark in the follow video. They show wiring for an xPro, but he explains the concept better than I have. For your X, you can invert the direction in the grbl settings. If you're using OB Control, go into Grbl Settings, scroll down to $3 and change Invert X Direction. Note that once you change your Y2 motor wires around, you may find you have to do the same for Invert Y Direction.
Also Derek Brown provided you a picture showing how the motor wires should be inverted in your fb post here: Log In or Sign Up to View
Excellent. Next you'll need to calibrate your steps. You can get very close with the built in fine tune wizard in OpenBuilds control. Its located in the Grbl Settings tab next to parameters $100, $101 and $102. If you need more accuracy, you need to cut a square, measure and do come calculations: You'll also want to adjust your wheels and belts
i thought i was ready to start cutting out some projects.... guess i'll have to wait i little longer thanks again for teaching this newbie how its done.
1 install OpenBuilds Control 2 open browser on phone to http://ip-of-pc-running-control:3000/jog If that doesnt work, check windows firewall or check LAN (pc and phone on same network, no magic needed, simple http request from phone to control:3000/jog
