Hi guys, on my 1st try to engrave something it seems that I have lost steps and at then end when I tried to move the gantry out of the way to pick my material, the motor Y2 was not moving. I shut down everything to remove the power, restart everything, put the power on. I ear the motor energizing but I can rotate the Y2 axis with my hand .. it's not stuck in place. My next step was to connect the Y2 motor on the X or Y axis and try to move it but if the motor is defect, I do not want to burn the driver. What if I connect my Y motor on the Y2 port so I can check if I have the same issue with a different motor .. that would mean the driver is probably dead right ? I'm confident on my wirering, but I will check it again with a multimeter
Motors almost never fail (when we see warranty returns on motors its usually shipping damage) they are very hard to kill. Much more likely wiring. Redo connections, and check wire with continuity mode of multimeter from both ends for breaks inside the insulation (caused by stress points / insufficient strain relief)
Found the issue.... somehow, the flexible coupler screws went loose on the motor. That's why I was able to turn the lead screw without resistance
