Hello all, Thanks in advance for any help I get here, it’s really great to see folks sharing knowledge like this. I’m using a Workbee 1515, 1.5kW spindle & xPRO V5 controller run through Openbuilds Control. Or I will be if I can sort out the issue I’m having. Machine homes fine. I’m using a standard square XYZ touch probe. Probe sequence goes through fine. When I load up a job & run it everything’s good in the XY but it cuts around 5mm into the stock before it starts the actual cutting path. As an example I’ve created a basic model with just a couple of 2mm deep slots, and set 1mm stepdowns (6mm end mill) – with this run through Control it did stepdown in 1mm passes but just kept doing it right through the 12mm stock. I’ve posted that fusion model here – if anyone would like to check it out that’d be amazing. So either I’m not setting up the probe correctly or something’s not right in my Fusion setup? I do get this warning popup in Fusion at the end of generating gcode - I can't actually find the settings it's suggesting there - I'm just using the personal use version of Fusion - maybe that function is disabled? Screengrab hopefully pasted in below. Goes without saying I’m new to this but very keen to learn & start cutting stuff! Cheers, Adam
because you did not set the bottom height to be the bottom of the pockets you selected (the selected contours in this case). 2D cutting strategies are not model aware, you have to tell them everything they need to know, the contour selection gives them a shape, then you give them depths in the 'heights' tab.
a further small refinement is to deselect the 'order by depth' so that it finishes each pocket completely before moving to the next one.
Mate thanks so much for all of that! Vids were super helpful. I've worked as a drafter for almost 30 years using AutoCAD now Revit which is another Autodesk modelling package - I thought there'd be a bit more crossover in functionality with Fusion but it really is it's own beast. Looking forward to learning more. Thanks again.
Not sure if I need to start a new post but further to the above everything is running much better, finally getting correct cutting depths etc. I am however not sure why I'm now getting multiple passes over the stock before the tool engages with actual material. Typical toolpath looks like this... Again, thanks for any assistance you guys might have.
Start a new thread in the software section and upload your Fusion file so we can have a look at it. Alex.
