OpenBuilds WorkBee 1510
60"x40"(1500x1000mm) Belt Driven
Hello Everyone!
The OpenBuilds WorkBee Machine is based on the
WorkBee CNC Machine by OpenBuilds Member, Ryan Lock.
We have been working with the WorkBee here in the OpenBuilds lab for some time now. It's a super strong, accurate and easy to assemble CNC machine. It gains its strength by incorporating a combination of C-Beam Linear Rail with multiple uses of the full size Xtreme Solid V wheels! It’s a great machine and we're sure you will love it!
Ooznest.co.uk – Ryan Lock’s UK Based company where you can find the Ooznest WorkBee Kit and many other great OpenBuilds Parts.
Thanks goes out to Ryan for creating and sharing this awesome open source design as well as all contributors who help to spark and create new ideas here on OpenBuilds and throughout the open source community. You guys rock.

Mods and Upgrades
- We use the free SketchUp Make for our CAD (makes the 3D model parts)
- For creating 2D drawings we use the Free and Awesome OpenBuilds CAM
(CAM Works up the cut lines and makes the GCODE for the parts)- For controlling the machine we use OpenBuilds CONTROL Software
(CONTROL Reads the gcode created in cam and moves the machine to make the part or art)
Hey guys, the community has found these tricks and tips that are very helpful when building your 1510 belt driven WorkBee. Please take time to check them out.
- Make sure that all timing pulleys are tightened down completely to the motor shaft of all axis's. (You really want the pulley and motor shaft to be one.) NOTE: You can also use M3 x 6mm screws in place of the grub screws.
- Add zip ties to all ends of the belt overlaps once tension is properly accessed to the belt. (This will insure that the belt cannot come loose in time)
- M5 x 12mm screws are provided for the belt tensioning process, so it's easier to add tension to your belt drive system.
- #8 ½” wood screws work great for the mounting of the spoiler board.
