The Forever Project

Started off with an Openbuilds Workbee 1010 Lead Screw Driven. Built the Wooden frame/table with casters from Harbor Freight. The Workbee is incredibly easy to build with the given videos for both the mechanical and electrical. I went with the Openbuilds Opencase to protect and cool the electronics.



For the spindle I chose to go with 1.5kw water cooled because of how loud routers gets. VFD and spindle purchased from ebay and was fairly easy to set up with various videos on YouTube.

To mount the 80mm diameter spindle I found someone who makes it on eBay. If I were to do it over again I would of ordered a 65mm diameter spindle to get a little extra cutting area.

The dust shoe is made out of 1/2" SS tubing, set screws(spindle mount came with threaded holes), acrylic, magnets, super glue, and some brush I ordered from amazon.

The spoil board is 3/4" MDF with 1/4" inserts from Amazon. I have 2 extra 1000mm 1"x1" aluminum extrusions I am going to cut down and put underneath the sides of the spoil board to give it a little extra stiffness.

The pump to cool the spindle is from Harbor Freight and costs around $6 on sale. I used standard auto coolant as computer coolant is expensive. 5 gallon buckets from Walmart(cheapest I could find).

For dust collection I'm using a Vacmaster Hepa Vacuum with a dust collector attachment on a 5 gallon bucket. The hose from the bucket to the dust shoe is for a water pump discharge. It's really cheap but not nearly as flexible as I would have hoped.
