I'll post some of my more unique signs and projects here. If anyone has any questions on how they were done feel free to ask !! These are were cut on the Area 51 F-117 Machine. These are just a few, i'll have to get the other photos from my wife. I try to keep this machine running about 8-10 hours out of the day, it cuts between 4 large signs or up to 8 mixed small and large signs per day..
Great looking stuff! Question: Do you have a website you sell from? I see you like the raised Characters on raised Characters. How do you go about colouring them as you have? Good Job My Friend Gray
www.etsy.com/shop/GPandSonWoodcrafting LOL what i've posted here is just a very small cross section of the signs we do. These are actual customer orders we're trying to still get caught up from Christmas.. Those layered signs are probably one of the hardest signs we cut, 8 different tool changes (need a ATC!!). I cut them 2 at a time so it's not too bad plus I have auto zero setup through Mach 3. We stain them between tool changes then sand the top layer. Thanks Gray !!
Thanks !! LOL, working on it. We moved back in September and I packed up my tripod and HD video camera, just need to find'em... I have to do some rearranging and cleaning tomorrow so i'll see if I can find it. Just have to figure out that time lapse time, no one wants to watch a 4 hour cut.
This is fantastic @Hytech2k love the fact that you and your wife are working together on these. Thank you for sharing, keep up the great work. Mark
Thanks Mark !! I have always liked family businesses and I couldn't ask for a better business partner. Plus we both get to stay at home and raise our 3 year old, no daycares!! Win win ! Gerald
Thats the blessed life you have there Garald! Keep'em coming we love seeing these projects. It helps to fuel the fire of creativity. Mark
Those look phenomenal! I really like the raised letter on letter signs. You mentioned that you do some sanding and staining between tool changes. Do you wind up having to do much finish work/sanding after they come off the machine or do you go straight to painting them?
Thanks !! Just a little sanding around the outside, mostly to remove the leftovers from the tabs. We add another coat of a different color stain then sand off the script letters, Poly and add hardware....
forgive my ignorance, i am new here and i am yet to purchase a machine. I must also admit that i havent looked far, but, what software do you use for this type of carving? Thanks in advance. -Lurch
