    Following this, I'm hoping to build one myself! I've heard the cheap lasers lack accuracy though as the beam they shine is too thick. I'm tempted by the pi cam option as well as its much quicker then a webcam, but it's only 5mp, do you think this will effect scan quality?

    I am new to this and learning as I go. As for the camera and lasers my plan is to go cheap and see if things work. If it does actually function then it is time to upgrade to higher quality parts.

    Finally received some parts from China. Hope to get back to work on this project soon.
