I'm planning a build of a machine with X, Z, and A axis specifically to do rotary spindle work. The machine will be based around the C Beam actuators from the store, and I'll most likely be using VCarve to design and create toolpaths. I'd love some input on a good controller board that can handle 4th axis work well. Being new to CNC, I'm doing tons of research, but it seems that there are a lot of options out there. From what I understand, boards like XPro won't work for this. It sounds like TinyG might, and I've seen at least one tutorial on doing 4th axis control with an Arduino and an Adafruit Motorshield. Then of course, there are the controllers that work with Mach3/Mach 4. I'd love any feedback so I can order parts and get started with the build. Thanks!
