Does anyone know how to control an air assist switch from the xPro board? I've read their hookup docs and it's above my head. Just wondering if that's been done, or if it's even a possibility. thanks!
I would use a 5v relay on the coolant enable line. then M7 or M8 will turn it on (not sure which one GRBL uses) and M9 will turn it off. reminds me I need to connect my relay to this for the vacuum cleaner....
Chalk it up to me being a noob when it comes to electronics, but the part that confused me initially was that they're suggesting using a mosfet as a relay. I learn something new daily!
that is fine if what you are driving is a 12 or 24v air valve AND you don't mind having it directly connected to the controller board. I like the physical separation of the relay. (-: for my dust extraction I will use a solid state relay, 5v on the input, 220v AC on the terminals for the vacuum cleaner. (here in South Africa everything is 220v AC)
What I'm going to (try) to do is to use a 24v electric fan for air assist - we'll see... it's a reasonably cheap experiment
