What are the steps/requirements to get the Openbuilds Blackbox X32 to mount and access a SD card using CONTROL? I've read the various posts about the SD Card Plugin which I've installed. I have not installed the WebUI plugin and prefer to use CONTROL. Does the card need to be formatted in a special way such as FAT32? I've tried various SD cards and mounting fails on all of them. There's no problem reading from the card from various Windows and Linux machines. It seems there's something obvious that I'm missing. Any help is appreciated.
CONTROL uses streaming, doesn't make use of the SD at all. Mounting it for use with other hosts: should just be a matter of plugging it in. FAT32 default formatting most cards come preformatted If its not mounting perhaps a faulty SD
Thank you for the response. Does "CONTROL uses streaming, doesn't make use of the SD at all" mean CONTROL cannot support recent grblhal versions with expressions and subprograms (RS274 NGC)? I'm using firmware based on the latest grblhal which supports expressions and subprograms. SD cards are needed to store the subprograms. I'm hoping to be able to use CONTROL for this purpose. A use case is Automatic tool changes (ATC).
As always CONTROL is meant for our primary customer base: beginners, needing a easy to use and understand host. Typically with a BlackBox and either one of our machine kits or a own-design machine built from our modular parts. Not to say some advanced features doesn't sometimes get added, but overall, some features like ones you enquire about, are not in the target of a typical user. Our existing CAM workflows has no real need for these either, nor are they compatible with grbl, for which CONTROL still has to cater for a reasonable couple of years as well Some custom needs can be handled by your own Macros though
BTW, I used the WebUI and verified the SD is completely functional. I'm now close to getting the expressions and subprograms working with the ATC. Thanks
