I've made the jump from Sketchup to Fusion 360. If you're ready to move into 3D carving, this is the tool! Fusion 360 is FREE for hobbyists, has built-in CAM abilities, can generate GCODE, and run simulations. I'm sold. While 'studying', I've come across the following videos and reference Add-ins that you may want to include. Now I'm thinking I need to build an OX that can carve up a full sheet of plywood.
