Hello everyone, so I'm very new to running and or building cnc machines. Set out to build a better camera slider and down the rabbit hole I went. recently "almost" finished building mm rig, Y-Y2 1600mm X1100mm Z330mm 56kg servo w/16 inches of throw and one 24v geared down (10 RPM) dc motor wired to coolant pins, Blackbox 32 and interface but I dont typically use the interface. So finally got the hang of things recently after some difficult lessons learned. Everything operating great, predictable and repeatable then two days ago my laptop battery dies while I'm working on CAM and Control building a run to show my wife. when i get home i open both programs and the grid on Control is now 200mm by 200mm and cam is still at the desired 1600 by 1100. I try resetting grid on both programs but control is stuck and when I send a new toolpath from cam 1600mm by 1100mm grid size only the activation sequence then Z motion +200 then end sequence is sent to control. No 3D model comes through and no grid size change. If i reset all setting on both programs and load a backup from a few weeks back it works but a great deal was learned between now and then and so many crucial changes were made to my settings and I'm terrible at taking notes so my questions are 1: what the heck could've happened? 2: How can I find the problem and possibly fix it without reverting back three weeks? 3: And any useful tips on avoiding this or really any tips would be awesome? Just want to say the staff at openbuilds has been amazing, I haven't had a question go unanswered or a problem that wasn't immediately handled. serious praise to all you out there doing an awesome job, you all deserve a raise!!! Thanks in advance to any help and answers I may receive, just keep in mind with your answers if any, the first time I read the words Gcode was about two months ago and wrote my first multi-line successful code a week ago so kids gloves please. oh and openbuilds limit switches, still cant get those pesky things to work properly all the time. sometimes they trigger and motor stops proprly, sometimes they by motor keeps trying to bulldoze straight through the same switch.
Correct, then when you load gcode is scales to match the job. Machine size is shown by the light gray "box" Is it co-incedentally just as the router starts up? Or invalid gcode without any move in it? Did you check your file? Use a CAM, no one needs to hand write gcode! Wiring or EMI PS: Post is the generic grbl thread, you are welcome to open a new thread rather as this doesn't relate to 2016's Grbl (;
I didn't "need" to build a giant 4 axis machine inside my house yet here we are. Plus learning a bit more about the code to better understand it doesn't sound like a bad thing to me and I was having trouble finding code to download that have my machine go to G0 Y1400 X700 Z200 M3S81 oh and M8 to activate motor to spin the camera to snap some shots. No router being used as of yet, basically a custom motion machine for photo and video shoots but plans to build a laser soon. I have tried loading old code with success if i use old Control settings but by success I mean the code is complete and sends properly to control but my machine was not setup properly so I can not run the code. don't even think I knew to decrease power output for nema 17 back then
Well that would be good to mention first (; otherwise the assumption would be that you are - like most people here - needing help with your CNC as a CNC Did you remember to Home and Zero before running? Post your file if you want us to check, but as you were expecting 3D view - remember that a simple hand-move would not create much of a preview
