Well just got taxes back and ordered my ox so it is on its way I have been playing with different cad programs for a month to get them figured out I think I have a handle on everything but I have a question about the control boards I have a town labs mini cnc machine about 3 years old I have the controller box like these http://townlabs.com/accessories.html but mine says tl126 on it so it is old my question is should I try and use this to control my ox or should I just start new and get new control boards cost is somewhat a issue but ill buy boards if it will work better. looking for comments from some one with more experience in this matter. looking to make acrylic lighted sings and wood signs any feed back would be appreciated
Hello dcarlisle, If you have servo motors that will work with it then I don't see why not. what control software do you plan on using?
ok got my ox have it put together i'm using the cnc xpro for driver board have it makig movements my question is now I used inkscape to draw drawing then used makercam to get the gcode saved the file as .nc im using grbl for controller when I try to upload a file it does nothing I get no picture in preview been trying for 2 days almost redy to give up I know it is something simply please help
well figured it out I changed prefferences to inches in inkscape you have to change them back to mm before saving then use master cam I got it to load in grbl now I ran test air cut to check my settings it was of went all way on x and kept going shut it off with at power supply now I can not get it to jog or move at all
Ok some questions: when you power up the system does the motors lock up? If not then check wiring, connections. If they do then go back through the software settings. What software are you using to control the router? Mach3, linux cnc?
Charlie I got it back moving it was the settings i'm using grbl 3.6.1 and I have a cnc xpro .9 version board found setting on github but they are way off when I jog 1 mm it moves like a inch im still playing with it and trying to figure out the stting I posted a build with my settings and some pics also
"when I jog 1 mm it moves like a inch" It sounds like you need to adjust your steps per mm. use this to get a ball park setup. You will have to tweak to get good accuracy. http://nathan7.eu/stuff/RepRapCalculator/RepRapCalculator.html
I aggree i have tried that i get 26.667 put tgat in and when i jog the machine the steppers chatter when they move ill try to post video tonight
