    Thanks Tweakie! :)
We are excited now that we know things like this can be built. It really opens the doors to the idea of cool custom furniture.

I've done furniture like this with Bosch Extrusions but for sure V-Slot looks better! Great build you got there, I'll translate it and put it up on the Mexican Website. I'm learning how to use SketchUp and will drop some designs as well soon.

How about an quick adjustable table? You can use 4 End Caps (V-Slot) as mechanical endstops, 2 on each side, one at a sitting height and the other for standing. Using knobs like on the picture below would work with a 7 Hole Cross Joining Plate. Also, an electronically adjustable table must be possible with 2 ACMEs (pricey I know).

Also, floors are not always 100% flat, the same knobs can be used to adjust the table, think about that ;).

We were looking to use these on the L brackets so that we could adjust them but just did not get this far :) Your right though I just had to re-adjust it today as Trish (My Wife) was not happy with the height so these would com in handy. BTW spam pic replaced for a clean version ;)
They also have handle version of these knobs as well that are pretty cool and would work great

I Like the idea of an automated version of a standing desk and look forward to seeing a build of one.
The Spanish version looks great. Sorry to hear its a lot of work.

Please take a look here at the Google website translator it may help in the future or for anyone wanting to view OpenBuilds.com in other languages.
You only need to enter in the URL of the site and pick the language and hit the translate button and Hope it helps

Defiantly not as clean as your translation and it is a bit buggy but they are getting there I just thought it may help seed up your work.

    Thanks Ronald

    Hi Mark,

Sorry about the spam picture and next time I'll put up a clean one directly. The handle version is okay if you have enough space for it to turn it 360º, but I don't think you have the space for it unless you make longer plates (just thinking out-loud here, I might be wrong). You might indeed leave the wood off and place the handle then. 3D printing a knob and glue it on a M5 could be the real opensource version (when shared) :).

I know Google translate and use it on Chinese websites but it's no good to use that directly on a blog-article that you want to place on your website. The reason that it took me so long to translate is that Spanish nor English is my mother language and so it's the human factor that messed up ;). Any way, we are getting of topic.

    See you around, -Ronald

NP thank you for understanding, we just want to keep the site spam free.
LOL I didn't even think of this. Maybe we could use the knob ones but only use one per side in the center. That way it would be quick adjust when needed. It should have more then enough holding power. We could also leave the screws in place on the out side to really set it in place if need be. Just a thought
    Thanks Ronald

How much weight can it handle? As I already stated in the discussion of the v-slot-workbench, here, there must be some concern due to the fact that the forces that hold the wooden plates are just the friction between M5 low profile screws and the rails. Probably holes in the rails would solve this issue, making such build much stronger, but this suggests either drilling them or waiting for new kind of v-slot rails that include holes.

I know that the 80/20 version of those handles are spring loaded and have detents. That way if it is in a tight corner, they can be pressed in and turned without turning the screw. Also the can be pointed away from the user once everything is tight.

I see, so that might be a release-button on top but it's hard to see on that picture if it's spring loaded.

My adjustable desk plans aren't as cool as an extrusion desk and would be manually operated. A couple of scissor jacks as the lift mechanism and a couple of bicycle gears and chain to operate the jacks. I found a scissor jack that has a 24 inch lift and way more lifting capacity than a desk would need.

    Hi Ron!

I'd like to build a standing desk/shelf for my PC at home. I have been standing at work since 2008 so am used to it all day.
While I don't need to alternate from standing to sitting, I would like it to be adjustable to lower if my kids want to use my PC.

I took some measurements of both myself and my 32" display:
    Insignia™ - 32 inch Class (31-1/2 inch Diag.) - LED - 720p - 60Hz - HDTV

    Display:
    35" diagonally
    22" vertically
    31" horizontally
    Base: 7" D

    Me: 5'7"
    Eye Level: 5'2"
    Elbow Level - 41.25 inches
Minimum distance between screen and eyes = 30" (2.5 feet)

Because of the size of the TV and the fact that your eyes are supposed to be at the top of the display when looking straight ahead, I was thinking the TV (with the base on) would be on the same surface as my mouse and keyboard.
However, I really like the idea of it being mounted on an "arm" of some kind so that I can adjust its height or angle.

    I like these ideas:
A pull-out tray for the mouse and keyboard.
A bottom shelf of some kind for my PC tower as I do not want it on the carpet floor.
It to be on carpet casters for when I want to move and rotate it to watch TV while using my treadmill.

    I've attached some pictures:
My shelf I had in 2011 that I no longer have but I loved at the time
My standing unit at work (company ordered it for me, wasn't my choice)
3 pictures of my PC at home with the TV.

I know my living room may look too small for this however I am willing to remove/relocate the coffee table and re-arrange the furniture to make room. I also have a folding treadmill not shown in the pictures (reinforcing the fact that I like to stand/walk while doing things).

I understand if all of my ideas cannot be done or are outside the scope of what OpenBuilds can do, however, I am very interested in knowing how much can be.

I only issue is that I have poor design imagination making it very difficult for me to visualize what this would look like.

    Hi @jeremyofmany,

Next week I'll start on the design, however, I have to see about the pullout tray. It is possible that I add it with the mini-V wheels. New parts have been released since the Trish standing desk has been made by @Mark Carew, so I'm sure something great will come out of this ;).
