I have a Workbee 1010 with Black Box 32. When moving the Y-Axis 10mm one motor moves 10mm while the other moves 11.2mm. What should I investigate to fix this?
Most likely something mechanical. Loose setscrews on shaft coupler, loose stop collar, etc Perhaps one side binds a little, or stalls. OpenBuilds Motors (or high inductance 3rd party motors?) The two Y motors get the same amount of steps. Check your steps per mm, should be around 199-200 steps per mm (our 8mm Leadscrews)
Thank you Peter, I'll recheck all of the mechanical connections, although I've done this dozens of times already. The motors are Openbuilds high-torque. Unfortunately the lead screws are not Openbuilds. I purchased a Linear Rail kit from SPAM-3D and have had nothing but problems with this rebuild. My CNC has been out of operation for almost a year due to the lack of support from them when they shipped wrong or defective parts (from China). Lesson learned here - I'll have to live with it and keep working on it. If anyone is considering this mod I don't recommend SPAM-3D; very costly experience. Every encounter with Openbuilds for all the other parts and info has been top-notch - much appreciated.
Could take them out, lay them side by side and see if the helixes line up - might be rolled out of spec (replacements needed)
