Curious to know how many of you use some sort of z-probe to find zero instead of the eyeball / piece of paper method. The probe is a pain in the ***

    Use the XYX Probe Plus, it is zero pain (;

Probing is a lot quicker, easier and more accurate than jogging, testing, jogging, checking, etc

    Robert,
Why do you feel probing is a pain in the.....? It is seriously much quicker and more accurate

I just ran a test comparison, using the probe versus setting manually. The probe was MUCH more accurate. I’ll continue with this route!

I was happy using the paper, then I built a Z probe, and now I use it all the time.

    Hi
Im new here and bought a 3018 pro with a makerbase dlc 32 v2.1 board
I got it to make pc boards
Im using UGS and need to do z probing to find z zero on pc board and also to do mapping to ensure it cut properly
I have the probe leads in on the probe plug on G and S
One goes on the pc board and other one on the carving bit.
When I probe it goes down , touch the board and lift up but it does not save the zero position correctly
Does anybody has a solution for me please
    Regards
    Vissie

are you using an option in UGS that epxects to be using a Z probe with some thickness?
yet when you are probing the surface of the PCB your probe has no thickness, so the Z0 woudl be off by the expected probe thickness.
    Is that what is happening?

    Hi
    I got it working
Changed $6 to 1 and $38 to 1 in firmware
I'm not sure if $38 makes a difference
In Probe module Z the settings for touch plate thickness is set to 0
And it worked. A friend in NZ helped me using Anydesk to connect to my laptop
    Thank you
