A 3-axis flying gantry (4'x4') mechanical kit is assembled. A 3D printer is used to make cable chain for tidy and cheap wire management. A BeagleBone Black development platform with Machinekit software (LinuxCNC) is configured to control a Xylotex motor driver box connected to an Openbuilds Ox direct-drive pulley and belt motion system. A vacuum dust-collection system is designed, CNC-routed and installed. A steel table is made to mount the table onto.

This is based on core XY kinematics. First of all, we designed a CAD model. Most of the required parts are designed by us in solidworks software, and some parts are downloaded from a web platform ‘grabcad’. After that we assembled those parts and inspected them in solidworks. The designed CAD models are frame of 470mmX392mmX545mm SBR linear guide rod, linear guide holder, lead screw, motor mounts, pulley, bed mount, idler block, timing belt clamper.

This has been a long, ongoing build. I’m putting together a custom CNC controller based on the MKS TinyBee running FluidNC, built into a custom aluminum chassis with proper heatsinks, clean wiring, and a set of custom boards and electronics. I’m using high‑end connectors and adding addressable lighting to keep everything both functional and polished. At the same time, I’ve been writing my own pendant firmware from scratch, which I plan to release as open source once it’s in a good place.
