This is based on core XY kinematics. First of all, we designed a CAD model. Most of the required parts are designed by us in solidworks software, and some parts are downloaded from a web platform ‘grabcad’. After that we assembled those parts and inspected them in solidworks. The UltiBots CB3030 CNC uses C-Beam, V-Slot and an extruded aluminum T-Slot work table. This allows 6mm T-Nuts, step clamps and blocks to secure materials to the work surface. The all metal design makes the use of a mister possible.

I started designing and ordering parts for this build back in Oct 2021. Unfortunately life got in the way and I had to sideline the project to deal with more important projects. I am now back working on this project full time. I’m making a desktop CNC machine based on the C-Beam platform. It will be driven by Tr8 Lead Screws, and initially made from 12mm birch ply plates.

With such great success/attention my laser got, I ended up with a good friend that would like to dabble in stencil art and so I have decided to share my build with him and you here :) I will be using all the same electronics as in my previous build except the driver boards I will be using are the famous reprap 4988's they are more easy to come by and cost less. This is a small desktop vacuum former that can be connected to a shop-vac and an electric heat source (like a grill for instance). You can control the time each appliance stays turned on, and the vacuum is automatically turned on when the tray is placed on top of the model. I am currently 15 years old, from Germany and trying to build a low budged CNC router. I only designed this CNC based on other CNC routers that I have seen and what I am able of. It consists mostly of 2.3cm plywood to keep costs down. The size of the work area is approx. 40 x 80 cm. I would be really glad if you could give me advice's for improvement on the design and everything else ... ( I could really need your help :) ) enjoy :)

The crypt-cube is another project I've been working on off and on over the past year, unlike my previous built C3DO this is a much smaller built with a volume of 318mm x 240mm x 220mm. With this build my main focus is precision and speed.

It startet in May with some leftovers from a cnc router build. Now in the middle of December its 99% finish. Everything is lowcost, spend about 1600$ so far.

I Like the Sphinx design thought I would attempt my first build. I wanted to build this and use Arduino controller with GRBL to be able to learn and understand my machine.

The X301 is a CoreXY 3D Printer that has a small footprint and a large 300x300x330 build area. The open style of this printer breaks the "Cube" mold of many other printers in this class but still retails rigidity and great performance.

PeeNaPle_V1.4b is a BoB controller board for 3D Printers, CnC and cartesian machine, using the latest Teensy_4.1

The plasma CNC that I have built has a water table that measures 1350mm x 650mm. The water is flooded onto the cut area while cutting and recycled around with a pump. This is to reduce smoke, cool the metal being cut to reduce distortion and also to keep sparks to a minimum. Most of the machine has been made from aluminium , the frame and table from steel, the water table, stainless steel.

I wanted a dust shoe that have a easy access to tool change and something that kind of float on the surface. And I have seen shoes with long brush that sucked in by the vacuum. I think I have the solution too all that here.

This is my first CNC build. As per the norm, I went in with months of research, planning, and resource gathering tied neatly together with a solid plan. As the path went on, the plan continued to change to accommodate issues I hadn't counted on. But, at the end of the road, the project reached completion, and I learned a ton along the way!

Construction of a CNC table for a specific project that could cut an area larger than a door (>8'x4'). Much thought went into how to avoid the weight of the gantry bending the (long) Y axis, whilst still keeping down the complexity and cost.

i always make laser cutting machine, but when i see openbuilds, this can make more cheap gantry for make laser cutting.

A simple 1500mm V Slot camera slider for timelapse and possibly video with an Arduino Uno controlling a Pololu A4988 driving an OpenBuilds NEMA 17 stepper, and triggering the camera.

For the x and y Axis you set the zero point with a limit switch, but how can you get the zero position for the z Axis? You have different thickness of material to mill and when you change the tool, you have also a other z Axis positon. With the Sensor, you can define the zero position of the piece automaticly.

This build is to show what's possible as well with openBuilds! I use a single ArduinoMega and 5 separate stepper drivers (A4988). The LEDs are all NeoPixels. Collision 'detection' is all done within the code, so the endstops are only sensors I use in this build. I'm a self-employed video-artist and this is my first installation which just needs power and it runs (where I'm quite proud of). Normally my interactive installations take a long setup time, so this installation is a relief :)

This build is intended as a light alternative to the Dremel rotary tool.
