Large leveling platform to hold a 3hp router

Mechanically, a scaled up OX build (1500x1500). Electronically, GRBL on an Arduino and a gShield. From a software perspective, the focus is on useable open source software tool chains.

This will be a chronicle. It's my first CNC build so, I will be making many changes as I learn from my mistakes. I will pass on any tips or tricks i learn along the way. This build is an OX Hybrid. I decided to use the open rail with the V wheels and not to go with the V Slot. (I'll let you know how it works out.)

Design of a multifunctional CNC machine.

Acquiring a CNC has been on my list for some time now. This concept is a bare bones, upgradeable machine that will not require a complete rebuild when new parts become available. With a cutting surface over 36" square, this beast should be capable of creating its own parts. Lowering the price to make upgrading and making this contraption beefier, faster, and more precise.

I've been working on commercial woodworking CNC's for year's under shop owner's that didn't want me to progress any further at a certain point. This is a project I've wanting to build for about 10 years now. I can't wait for the freedom to build what I know is possible without any negative input.

This build is a modified Ox build. The long rails are 1000mm. My build includes a solid clamping table.

The Echinus Team change the Firmware from "Teacup" to "Marlin". I use this board in my 3D Printer and it works very good! So I write a short report.

I am building a Laser cutter based off Robert Hummel's Laser V design.

Multi-tool 3D printer, laser cutter, and CNC mill.

ROUX is a 2'x4' CNC that can be easily handbuilt without an existing mill and removes the need to buy generic plates for the Routy. A simpler, more refined machine.

I hope to have a working prototype built soon.

I have been looking for a good solid kit to build off of for some time and when I saw the Ox buildlog I knew I had to have one. Ordered most of the pieces from Open Builds and started planning. Had a nice gentleman named Chris cut the required plates from 6061 aluminum for me (he sells them on eBay now if you're interested) and got to work.

I'm looking to build a large build-volume, accurate, steady 3D printer with the eventual aim of swapping in a diode laser to allow for use as a cutter for printing/cutting parts out of balsa sheet for building model aircraft.

The method used for tool position setting is a matter of personal choice but this is what I do.

As a 3rd year mechatronic engineer with a plan to print my 4th year thesis project and with no elegant backup plan, I ran into a problem, I'm gonna need a bigger printer. Loving the DeltaPrintr kickstarter, but needing it before the end of next year I have resolved to make my own.

A little project for a rainy day which some, like me, may find useful.
