This is my first CNC router, so be kind on the criticism. I'm still learning. Not an engineer, and not a machinist so I am having to research and learn aspect from both of those areas of study!

Dust Shoe design for a CNC router. Attaches to Chris Laidlaw's Mount design, with the DeWalt D26200 (which I think is the DWP 611 in the US).

This build is my version of the CBeam machine. I opted to NOT use the Gussets, and instead went for the 40, and 60 mil angle brackets to cut the price back a little further. I started with the smoothieboard but decided it was still "too new" and very much experimental. This build took me a few (2-3) days to complete. The CBeams and Lead-Screws really make building things faster since you don't have to clamor over belts.

This started as an attempt to learn to weld and quickly took on a life of its own.

Replaced the original Z-axis for a shapeoko with a c-beam upgrade. This upgrade required a nema 17 mount and a quiet spindle mount I printed with a 3D printer.

Approximately 910mm x 955mm x 82mm. There is 250mm available in the Z, but the gantry is only 82mm from the bed surface.

Repurposed Steel Table for CNC Router Build.

I have decided to buy and build the ooznest workbee screw driven cnc (1000x1000) and also decided to use some plates and extrusions from the ox cnc. I will never use two machines anyway and hoping to build a strong base for the workbee.

This is the original C-Beam Sphinx with the 16 wheel X gantry plates. I'm using the Ethernet Smoothstepper, Gecko G540 stepper driver and Mach 4 for motion control.

I added the steel to create a less flexible milling surface to make heavier cuts in aluminum. I can also do light steel cutting now as well. I wish OpenBuilds made a steel and rail version of these kits.

So for my senior project I decided to build a CNC router. I kind of need to get this done before May so we'll see what all goes down. It's going to be a 3 axis machine (for now) and will be able to handle 4x8 sheets of wood. This is my first build. It's going to be intresting..

This is a lead 1010 build that I wanted to have a little fun with. I purchased the whole Lead 1010 kit, and felt like studying a few shortcomings of the original to see if I can improve it or just have some fun with it.

Building the OB Lead 1515 was straight forward. The on-line OpenBuilds assembly videos were extremely clear and easy to follow. Initial build of this machine is with OpenBuilds BlackBox which simplified getting the electronics to work the first time. OpenBuilds staff are friendly and helpful.

I am in the design phase of my CNC. I would like to thank everyone who has placed resources on the site. I am using it to the up most! I will update as I continue the design and share my progress.

I'm starting with the c-beam bundle, and I hope to end up with a pretty useful little platemaker/shallow relief carver. I'm hoping to discover how accurate and efficient it can be.

I love to build things. I decided to build a CNC machine to help me build more things! I had a lot of fun and I learn a lot of thing in the process of building this machine. p.s. my primary language is french not english. Forgive me if I made some mistake.

Gantry style rigid build

The Story of the Scecina Memorial High School 1510 BUILD will unfold through a series of 10 minute Episodes. Each episode will consist of video showing how to assemble some aspect of the 1510 overlaid with a discussion about Technology, Art, Philosophy... and Life the Universe and Everything. Episode two is soon to follow. If sufficient interest ensues, the episodes may continue beyond the building of the 1510 to relate its use in the making of the Art.

This will be my second CNC build but this time a proper CNC not a small desktop model that I played with for a while to learn Gcode, It was great but now its time to start playing with the big boys and girls.

I Like the Sphinx design thought I would attempt my first build. I wanted to build this and use Arduino controller with GRBL to be able to learn and understand my machine.

The main objective is to build a software which can completely run on a single board computer, Rasbperry Pi, to reduce the complete cost of building a cnc machine. The software is extensively tested and can be run on any raspberry pi 2/3 boards. With no G-Code dependency, you can do complex 3D relief carving to simple tasks with simple GUI based project development environment. Anti-Twist Design, larger lead screws, enhanced M8 wheel sets.

The Sphinx has all the components I need, except it will need a taller vertical lead screw, the same length as the horizontal ones. It will also need legs. So I need to start with the Sphinx parts list, then make a few changes.

I've been working on commercial woodworking CNC's for year's under shop owner's that didn't want me to progress any further at a certain point. This is a project I've wanting to build for about 10 years now. I can't wait for the freedom to build what I know is possible without any negative input.

This is my first cnc build, never used one before and don't know too much besides what i've read a little bit about them online. It's probably going to be about 31" y axis with hopefully around 4ft x axis, z height is still to be determined.

This is my first cnc router. I like the open builds concept. I bought parts when I had the money. It seems everytime i think i have all the parts, i find something I am missing. My controller won't be ready until the end of the month so I am in no hurry. I will add things that i find. Eager to make some saw dust.

Modded OX with full nema23 4 point support

I wanted to put together a medium size router using PTFE slides from McMaster-Carr. I've had great experience with these slides in long term continuous motion operations in industrial environments.

A lower profiled machine. Built all out of aluminum. Removable control panel/PC unit. Option for vacuum table and cooling pump for a spindle.

I'm starting my first own build cnc machine which is inspired by routy and the ox. Were my goal was not to use the ox plates but use the standard plates available in the parts store for the design.

1500 x 1500 mm OpenBuild CNC

Its the first build for me so its just the story of me attempting to build the kit and hopefully end up with something I can use. Hopefully without destroying anything or anyone.

This is a stool, designed in 18mm wood for a cnc router, it's easily scaleable to different wood-thicknesses, in 18mm wood it takes up 1200*1200mm. It can be assembled without screws, nails or glue and can therefore also be easily disassembled.

This is my OX. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My OX is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.....

I have the demand to cut/etch tall pieces of material. For this reason, I have designed a machine with 500mm uprights with adjustable gantry height. This way I can raise/lower the sled and z-axis as needed. I've also chosen to use a linear C-channel assembly for the Z axis with the plate mounted to the gantry instead of the other way around. This will allow for maximum range of the z-axis. The parts list/BOM does not include motors/belts/pulleys or electronics.

You will be following the assembly of the mechanical kit and how i integrate the electronics into the final build.

The goal is to have a relatively strong CNC to be able to cut alu. Working space will be around 800x350x100mm.

My first build based on the original C beam Sphinx. I’m not sure at this point what the final size will be. I have the parts from the c beam Sphinx and extra beams and lead screws to build up to 1000mm x 1000mm.

This is a major redesign to the Z-axis of an otherwise stock Shapeoko 2.

First time build of the Lead 1010 CNC with the High Z add on.

Cartesian style CNC with a working area of around 360mm x 360mm x 120 mm (X, Y, Z) using Linear rails and ball screws. The linear rails are (Hiwin?) HGR 20mm x 520mm and the ball screws are SFU1204 (12mm lead 4mm) of around +/- 430 mm. The base structure is made from rectangular aluminum profiles of 70mm x 45mm x 3mm (thickness of walls).

Customised Lead 1010 making it a 1510. T-Track work area with dual Y limit switches for auto-squaring. Powered by xPro v5 & CNC.js
