I'm currently working on the CNC control box, before doing any future work on the CNC Mountain Machine. I want the controller to be future proof and as professional as I can manage. I am planning to use stepper drivers, PSU's, a motor contactor unit to turn everything on, as well as a VFD and proximity limits switches. Each video will document the process and steps involved in researching, designing, planning and assembling a controller. I am not a natural electrician so learning as I go.

This is a 1-Axis CNC Glass Grinder. It uses a hobby grinder to miter a precise angle on the edge of a piece of glass.

This build is to show what's possible as well with openBuilds! I use a single ArduinoMega and 5 separate stepper drivers (A4988). The LEDs are all NeoPixels. Collision 'detection' is all done within the code, so the endstops are only sensors I use in this build. I'm a self-employed video-artist and this is my first installation which just needs power and it runs (where I'm quite proud of). Normally my interactive installations take a long setup time, so this installation is a relief :)

This is a book scanner built out of aluminum extrusion. It is designed to get high quality scans without harming the book. It is not automated. You still have to turn the pages yourself.

This is a CNC Line Boring Machine for our cabinet shop. It drills the holes every 32 mm for the adjustable shelf pins in the cabinet side pieces. I chose this option over purchasing a multi-head boring machine that requires 11 drill bits - Left & Right hand twist - that also requires a lot of strength to plunge that many drill bits into the wood to be drilled.

The idea is to make a simple effective ventilator, studying the concept of using a simple push process with and actuator.

This is a T Nut Holder for OpenBuilds V Slot System. Useful when you want to keep t nuts in place, for example when you're mounting something vertically.

This items are so cool that they need to be together, so I decided to create brackets that connect both pieces together

We want to present you the new design of the device which is Router Sled. The whole structure is made of aluminum elements and ensures good quality of the device. A simple Embroidery machine using an XY belt and pinion drive to drive a hoop under a standard sewing machine. Needle timing, machine power and stepper control are all provided by a PIC processor. A tablet provides the higher level formatting required for communicating with the PIC chip.

This build is intended as a light alternative to the Dremel rotary tool.

In the place i'm from we face problems related to prototyping industry, there's no accesibility to it, not because there is not machines to work with but the costs are really high if i want to make a single piece of any idea in order to develop a concept, our students get their degree but never were able to try any of the Hass or 3d systems machines available as it seems they need a PhD.

The COTSPnP pick-and-place machine (PnP) is used to place surface-mount devices (SMDs) onto a printed circuit board and was designed and built exclusively from off-the-shelf (COTS) components, predominantly sourced from OpenBuilds and Actobotics. Its intended use is prototyping and not high rate, high volume production and is capable of precisely placing parts as small as 0402 capacitors and resistors but more importantly, can precisely place components with lead spacing as small a 0.4mm.

I continue to follow the thread woven by the materials, the processes, and the people that come to it and in the end the work will not only be a faithful rendition of an image and a concept, it will also be a tapestry of the story of its making.

I know this build is a little off category here at OB, but I wanted to share it with the community (as well as other coffee lovers) and show however vast the possibilities are when OB hardware is involved. This is a powered stand intended to operate a manual coffee grinder. It is compact, light, portable and uses simple drive components (B&D Cordless Screwdriver). I will post two version, V-1 (Beginner skill level ) and V-2 (Intermediate skill level). Both accomplish the same results.

The MFT is low cost and is capable of tuning multiple filter configurations with minimal preparation.
