The Ooznest OX CNC Machine Kit is based on the OX CNC Machine designed by Mark Carew, and it incorporates many upgrades from this community. The plate designs in our kit are based on the originals. Another build based on the original OX design with a cutting area will be about 26" (680mm) x 50" (1300mm) and driven by lead screws.

This is the story of me building myOX - my version of the "ideal" OX. The Openbuilds BlackBox is a new system evolved around a set of subsystems that cover more than just control and also more than just CNC type applications! With a plug-and-play easy connection system this controller can be used with ease, without sacrificing power.

The Ronin OX is a dedicated fiber composite milling machine. I give a complete in-depth article on how to take a nearly stock OX build and easily turn it into something that can mill carbon fiber and G10 plate effectively and quickly.

This CNC utilizes the C-BEAM extruded aluminum for the "X", "Y", and "Z" axis. The gantry will move similar to the OX along with the "Z" except I am incorporating the C-BEAM instead of the 20x60 V-RAIL. To make the system as strong as possible I am using two C-BEAM rails back to back. The "Y" axis will encompass two sets of roller on both side of the C-BEAM extruded rails for added strength. All of the plates for this were created using the C-BEAM machine I completed several month ago.

This build is based on the C-Beam build by Mark Carew. I have added axis limit switches and a remote mounted control cabinet. This build also uses a custom moveable table.

I am building a multi tool CNC. I plan to have a quick change tooling system that will accept Routers, oxy acetylene torch, Plasma torch. etc. there will be a water bed under the convertible router table / work bench. The inspiration to build this machine is from having a small garage and not a shop.

After completing a standard OX build, I found I didn't have enough Z-clearance and designed a set of taller gantry plates

This is the story of my experience building a 1000 x 750mm OOZNest OX CNC router

This is a modification I made to my Voxel Ox 3D Printer Z axis, which synchronizes the Z leadscrews via a shaft and helical gear transmission. It prevents the two Z leadscrew from getting out of adjustment relative to each other, and uses a single Z motor instead of two. This build is just documenting the specific changes I have made to the Z-axis, since the frame and other axes are still from the original Voxel Ox design.

The machine is a stock Lead CNC, with the Black Box controller and StepperOnline 269oz NEMA 23 motors. I'll be using the DeWalt 611 from Openbuilds, as well.

One meter square. Short and stout.... reminds me of a Sumo Wrestler. A temporary and adjustable configuration I have devised to cut my own plates. I have kicked around ideas for about a year and the C-Beam extrusion has made this attempt to realize my ideas irresistible. This is just one step towards bigger and better things!

This build is for a testing rig to use while testing out different controller boards and CAM software for milling and routing. It is in the early stages, planning is complete, parts are ordered. I'm currently working on the CNC control box, before doing any future work on the CNC Mountain Machine. I want the controller to be future proof and as professional as I can manage. I am planning to use stepper drivers, PSU's, a motor contactor unit to turn everything on, as well as a VFD and proximity limits switches. Each video will document the process and steps involved in researching, designing, planning and assembling a controller. I am not a natural electrician so learning as I go.

A modified OX based on Aluminum plates cut on a waterjet. Some new ideas and additions from other builds are included.

This is a variant of a typical OX (Mark Carew inspiration) router using C-Beams/8mm Acme rods to drive all three axis. I went with a 1000mm x 1000mm frame size. Useable space is 28" (711mm) X 26" (660mm) with a Z axis work travel of approx. 3.25" (82.5mm). A TinyG is used as a controller along with Fusion 360/Chilipper as the software for generating and running gcode files.

This is a pure cbeam build to maximize envelope and rigidity. All the parts used are available from open builds.

Ox Stainless with ballscrews for motion, nema 23 steppers, LInuxcnc for control software. Using basic parts for frame from Makersupplies, and the rest sourced from ebay. Building a small router hoping it will be able to cut aluminum with decent results.

A few mods on my Ooznest supplied Ox cnc Encountered a few minor issues along the way but now all sorted.

I ran across the OX and knew it was the one I wanted to build. Some of the things I wanted to include was make it bigger and a little more solid than what the original plans called for. So here is where I am at so far. It will have a cutting area of 48" x 48". The waste board support frame will have more support rails. The Y axis will have (3) 20mm x 60mm rails instead of the original (2) that is called for. 1/4" aluminum OX plates. And a few more odds and ends.

Ca fait 2 ans que je rêve d'une Fraiseuse CNC. Ni trop grande ni trop petite, sans avoir le budget pour en acheter une toute faite. Je suis artisan menuisier ébéniste et j'ai finalement décidé de la construire. Le projet OX m'a séduit, alors je me lance.

Construction of a CNC table for a specific project that could cut an area larger than a door (>8'x4'). Much thought went into how to avoid the weight of the gantry bending the (long) Y axis, whilst still keeping down the complexity and cost.

This is about my build of a Workbee 1000X1000 being built here in Trenton, SC. My goal is to use it to help cut the new panel for my RV6A airplane.
