This will be an Aluminum OX build. Plates and all design credit goes to Mark from open builds. I may add my own touches but mainly this is to see how Aluminum plates perform

This is our plasma cutting table , based on the famous OX CNC . Can cut up to 15 mm ( steel , stainless , aluminium ) with a really good accuracy and at a really high speed .

My Machine is based on the OX CNC designed by Mark Carew as well as the ooznest kit, and it incorporates a bunch of my own details and revisions to increase performance and robustness. It has become way more beastly than I originally planned!

My CNC project

I have been looking for a good solid kit to build off of for some time and when I saw the Ox buildlog I knew I had to have one. Ordered most of the pieces from Open Builds and started planning. Had a nice gentleman named Chris cut the required plates from 6061 aluminum for me (he sells them on eBay now if you're interested) and got to work.

This is the story of me building myOX - my version of the "ideal" OX. I want a machine which can route/mill at least 4' wide and as long as I can feed through (don't be shy, think "infinity") as well as going deep on multiple faces - manual 4th axis. This is a router that I designed that is loosely based on the Openbuilds Ox, but designed to be heavy duty, rigid, and yet quick and agile.

A Controlbox for my CNC-Router, containing stepper-drivers, Planet-CNC MK3 Controller and a Controlpanel with joysticks.

I'm currently working on the CNC control box, before doing any future work on the CNC Mountain Machine. I want the controller to be future proof and as professional as I can manage. I am planning to use stepper drivers, PSU's, a motor contactor unit to turn everything on, as well as a VFD and proximity limits switches. Each video will document the process and steps involved in researching, designing, planning and assembling a controller. I am not a natural electrician so learning as I go.

This project shows how to use Openbuilds Vv slot extrusions and wheels to retrofit a Lulzbot Taz 4 or 5 printer. Hi! This build is, or at least should be, a multipurpose box (mBOX). Due to limited space I want to build something that can serve multiple purposes such as 3d printing, 3d scan, plexiglass cutting and hopefully some milling too (both wood and metal). I am building a multi tool CNC. I plan to have a quick change tooling system that will accept Routers, oxy acetylene torch, Plasma torch. etc. there will be a water bed under the convertible router table / work bench. The inspiration to build this machine is from having a small garage and not a shop.

This is a modification I made to my Voxel Ox 3D Printer Z axis, which synchronizes the Z leadscrews via a shaft and helical gear transmission. It prevents the two Z leadscrew from getting out of adjustment relative to each other, and uses a single Z motor instead of two. This build is just documenting the specific changes I have made to the Z-axis, since the frame and other axes are still from the original Voxel Ox design.

Micro Ox Build

I ran across the OX and knew it was the one I wanted to build. Some of the things I wanted to include was make it bigger and a little more solid than what the original plans called for. So here is where I am at so far. It will have a cutting area of 48" x 48". The waste board support frame will have more support rails. The Y axis will have (3) 20mm x 60mm rails instead of the original (2) that is called for. 1/4" aluminum OX plates. And a few more odds and ends.

build is in process the machine went together perfectly no issues at all but the software is another issue I have been trying to get the thing dialed in it is driving me nuts I'm still in the process will update if I ever get it figured out

This will be an OX based machine which I've designed to make the best use of my materials, be as precise as the design allows and operate as quietly as possible. I live in an apartment complex so space and noise are two important factors for me. Therefore the machine needs to do as much as possible while using little space and not annoy the neighbours.
