Hopefully this will be a quick guide to one way that you can add a laser to an existing CNC router.

My First major improvement was changing the controller to a Acorn board. I loved the way a dedicated userinterface was speeding up my workflow. Next project my Y Axis. On Aliexpress I ordered a couple of 16mm ballscrews and some lineair rail. Before I took my gantry off I quickly made some aluminium profiles to fit my carriages. Withouth any doubt these improvements where worth it

So this is my custom 40W build. I wanted to make another laser similar to the one I built but a lot smaller and an all in one system so that if I ever decide to do a farmers market or something similar, I wanted to be able to put the laser on the back of the car and drive to whatever location. I think it's going to work. It will be see-through with lights and screens eveywhere. The lights alone should attract people like flies. That's the plan anyway.

Y-1200 Build The Y-1200 has a cutting area of 1200 x 600mm and the main chassis has a external size of 1620 x 955 x 450mm. The recommended power output is 60-90W, this can also be increased with the use of an extension box. designed by furtherfabrication ROB CHESNEY FREELANCE INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER.

My TFE2 CNC Build. The TFE was much smaller and all of the gantry plates were 3D printed. Despite this it will happily machine aluminium without issue. So I decided to use that to make the TFE2 which will be all aluminium plates and much larger (1200x800mm machining area with roughly 140mm in Z so I can later add a rotary axis.)

A simple Embroidery machine using an XY belt and pinion drive to drive a hoop under a standard sewing machine. Needle timing, machine power and stepper control are all provided by a PIC processor. A tablet provides the higher level formatting required for communicating with the PIC chip.

My main goal for my build is to have a machine that is capable of profiling and help me in my designs, for the manufacture of custom automotive headlights.

All Openbuilds parts where possible, 1000x500mm footprint, 0.8kw Water-cooled Spindle?, High Torque Stepper?,Smoothieboard?, I still have no idea. Hi everyone, im new to the world of lasercutters but i have been granted access for a Trotec laser for a while with old firmware and only compability trought Windows XP. Then i decided to build my own laser, with some easier workflow and support for Windows 10. Since im still a student i have limited resources, so i will try too use scrap parts as much as possible. This is Adamantine, a all aluminum lead screw driven 3d printer. I wanted to have a printer that would not be effected by the heat or humidity I have here as my current wood frame printer is.

I just did my first Powder coat paint job on a Z Axis with 9inchs of travel for the DIY CNC Plasma Cutter, Mill Head, Router, Engraver, Laser Head, Water Jet Cutter Machine. 2 different Z Axis ride plates and a 80mm Router/Mill Head/Spindle clamp. Baked on finish in a old oven i had.

Been using the Ox now since 2015, so decided I should move on to C-Beam :-)

Build progress of custom roller table for applying graphics

A 1500x1200mm, 20mm rail and 1610 ballscrew, heavy-duty, four-axis gantry machine. As high speed as spindle power MRR will allow for. Approx 4 x 3 x 1ft travels, intermediate size between benchtop and floor-scale units. Aiming at $10-15k machine in the $3k region.

The idea was to build a proof of concept table saw fence similar to a thru-rip or accusquare fences which retail for 400$, with the added option to motorize the positioning.

So I am employed in the automotive industry and I walk by thousands of dollars of CNC products daily that are no use to me due to being a Technologist and not a machinist. So therefore with some research I found openbuilds and their great selection of products to build my own CNC. This CNC will consist of 4 axis one removable 360 degree axis for turning alongside a x axis table Y axis stationary gantry and a Z axis attracted to the Y axis linear actuator.

Lead screw based Foam Cutter that can easily be adapted to full belt / pinion drive and to CNC.

This is my 1st submission to openbuilds.com and my 1st venture into building a 3D Printer. The Phoenix 3d Printer is a kit from Ez3D, a company based out of Colorado, started and backed by successful Kick-starter and IndieGogo campaigns. The Phoenix 3d Printer kit is currently backlogged 10 to 12 weeks which means quite a wait. I will be chronicling my experience with this kit as I get it done.

As a 3rd year mechatronic engineer with a plan to print my 4th year thesis project and with no elegant backup plan, I ran into a problem, I'm gonna need a bigger printer. Loving the DeltaPrintr kickstarter, but needing it before the end of next year I have resolved to make my own.

You need some mechanical and electronic experience. This is NOT a novice undertaking! a familiarity with linux a plus (but not necessary). Basic woodworking and metal fabrication a big plus as well.
