This build is for a testing rig to use while testing out different controller boards and CAM software for milling and routing. It is in the early stages, planning is complete, parts are ordered. This is my latest printer build. The second printer I've built using V-Slot.

I ran across the OX and knew it was the one I wanted to build. Some of the things I wanted to include was make it bigger and a little more solid than what the original plans called for. So here is where I am at so far. It will have a cutting area of 48" x 48". The waste board support frame will have more support rails. The Y axis will have (3) 20mm x 60mm rails instead of the original (2) that is called for. 1/4" aluminum OX plates. And a few more odds and ends.

I am building a simple home brewed printer. I have a background in industrial automation so I figured how hard could this be. The mechanical build was pretty smooth as was the electrical side. Now just getting plastic out the hotend is my stopping point.

This build log will chronicle the construction of my oversize (1000mm X 1500mm) OX router.

This will be a chronicle. It's my first CNC build so, I will be making many changes as I learn from my mistakes. I will pass on any tips or tricks i learn along the way. This build is an OX Hybrid. I decided to use the open rail with the V wheels and not to go with the V Slot. (I'll let you know how it works out.)

Building upon the great work done by Marshall Peck and others. I have started a new build.

My CNC Router design and inspiration came from the Routy CNC project. I modified some of the aspects of the Routy build, but left the original XY dimensions intact. The build has been very enjoyable thus far and am nearing completion of all wiring in preparation for my first test run!

This is a CNC Line Boring Machine for our cabinet shop. It drills the holes every 32 mm for the adjustable shelf pins in the cabinet side pieces. I chose this option over purchasing a multi-head boring machine that requires 11 drill bits - Left & Right hand twist - that also requires a lot of strength to plunge that many drill bits into the wood to be drilled.

Out with the Old in with the New. Trying to build a nice clean setup that myself and my sons can use and enjoy.

Here is a nice little simple build that will help to free up some extra space on your work bench. If your like me you need all the room on your work station you can use, so this is great to have.

I'm working on a cartesian cnc router for my school research project

The original plan was to build a 3d printer with a 1200x1200 build platform with a 600mm build height. I was having issues getting ahold of a large enough borosilicate glass plate for the build so I decided to go for build height. I plan on using a smoothieboard for the controller. The build has currently slowed down. I was removing a broken drillbit from the linear rail mount, and it shattered and took out my eye. I am doing what I can when I can focus my eyes long enough for the build.

My very first attempt at a CNC build. Based on the OpenBuilds C-Beam Machine, small tweaks will be made to tailor it for my goals: machining G10, aluminum & some carbon fiber for use with multirotor and motorcycle parts. I am looking forward to the day when I am comfortable enough to bring the ideas in my head to the tip of the end mill in a smooth fashion...

Acquiring a CNC has been on my list for some time now. This concept is a bare bones, upgradeable machine that will not require a complete rebuild when new parts become available. With a cutting surface over 36" square, this beast should be capable of creating its own parts. Lowering the price to make upgrading and making this contraption beefier, faster, and more precise.

One meter square. Short and stout.... reminds me of a Sumo Wrestler. A temporary and adjustable configuration I have devised to cut my own plates. I have kicked around ideas for about a year and the C-Beam extrusion has made this attempt to realize my ideas irresistible. This is just one step towards bigger and better things!

After use of the i3 Prusa 200x200x180, the volume increases to 300x300x450 on the V-Slot and driven by a Megatronics V3

This is a rework of a previous build I did on here, a mostly printed cartesian CNC. Initially intended to just be an update to that, but so many things changed including the linear motion and every single part has been modified significantly that I felt as though it deserved a whole new build.

This 3D Printer is made to provide the most accurate results with the least amount of investment. This Printer is being designed to allow the common user to own a very accurate piece of machinery.

Based on the popular C-beam / V-wheel design, with the largest available work area, relative to machine size. Screw driven with anti-backlash, integrated drag chains, Carbon fibre gantry plates, Openbuilds BlackBox Controller (USB), Transformer & kill switches, with internal wiring, limit switches & Nema 23 motors.

A desktop Cartesian CNC router

I have been looking for a good solid kit to build off of for some time and when I saw the Ox buildlog I knew I had to have one. Ordered most of the pieces from Open Builds and started planning. Had a nice gentleman named Chris cut the required plates from 6061 aluminum for me (he sells them on eBay now if you're interested) and got to work.

A plasma table able to cut 4'6" x 8'8" sheet. Low cost as possible.

My attempt at a Desktop CNC using C-Beam and Open-Rail with Steel Wheel bearings and LeadScrew Drive.

CNC Based on CBeam, with No custom Plates, and Z GANTRY

A fully aluminium printer made from off the shelf components, no printed parts.

Cut Area: 825 x 1340. Max Cutting depth: 2 inches. Arduino based control with Nema 23 and Nema 17 drive. 8mm leadscrew and 2GT belt drive. 400W 48V quite cut spindle.

Inspired by previous Sphinx builds by Sorin (w/ MGN Rails) and Kenneth's witthuhnCNC XKLBR-1S. I wanted to create a desktop unit that kept a minimal profile and neatly contained the PS, Controller, and all wiring, making it a singular unit that could be easily transportable (as it will be doing double duty at my home and at work)

A home-made CNC-machine with a 1.5 kW air cooled spindle motor suitable for milling materials such as wood, plastic and soft metals. The work table is 650 mm wide by 700 mm deep and the maximum movement is set to 560 mm for the x-axis, 480 mm for the y-axis and 105 mm for the z-axis.

Two plus years in the making, I finally have a working ACRO 510 laser engraver system complete with enclosure and air filtration.

Turning my prototypes into real objects, it will be required a great amount of drawings, A LOT. Therefore, against the ink costs raise price push me to think in a way to draw models, blueprints, etc. at very, VERY low cost. This is where my DrawBot was born

Micro Ox Build

The idea is to make a simple effective ventilator, studying the concept of using a simple push process with and actuator.

This 1500mm tall Delta is a work in progress. The triangle corners are water jetted from 1" 6061 Aluminum, and are welded to 1" square tubing. The 1500mm OpenBuilds 20x20 V-Slot extrusions are held into the corner brackets by two stainless steel set screws per bracket. This printer will need to be reinforced with wall brackets due to the combination of height/materials.

I ordered the OpenBuilds MiniMill from the OpenBuilds Parts Store http://openbuildspartstore.com/ They were out of Motors and Electronics when I ordered so I had to source these items elsewhere. But it turned out well doing it this way.

A stable CNC Router that allows me to cut and carve bigger Parts. The Machine is an original Build from Kyo's Sphinx CNC Machine. Thanks for the great Work and the Effort Kyo. Your Files and Lists helped me a lot to build that Sphinx 1x1m.

I'm starting my first own build cnc machine which is inspired by routy and the ox. Were my goal was not to use the ox plates but use the standard plates available in the parts store for the design.

OLD Lead 1010 High Z Mod converted to Newest Lead 1515 with High Z mod, slimmer cbeam motor mounts, thrust bearings etc. Extended by original table out and upgraded my 1.5kw VFD and Spindle to 4kw ER20 Spindle and 7.5kw GT VFD
