The name of the printer is G&C Printer from Good & Cheap Printer. My goal was to design an printer that was good print quality and was cheap. The total cost of the printer is about 490€.

This is a custom gear rack drive machine with a 4'x8' cut capacity.

The Space Optimized LAser Cutter is a 40 watt CO2 laser cutter that supports a maximum part volume of 24" x 16" x 6.25". It consists of a V-slot frame + brackets/mounts designed to be 3D printed on a consumer desktop printer. Total cost of the machine is ~ $1,400 USD.

This 3D printer is an implementation of the Ultimaker 3D printer Using the Modular approach, many of the parts from the CubeSpawn 3 axis mill translate straight across into this design, so adding new concepts should go quicker

Custom Z Axis for OptLaser 6watt and the Acro System

This is my first major project.

A 1500x1200mm, 20mm rail and 1610 ballscrew, heavy-duty, four-axis gantry machine. As high speed as spindle power MRR will allow for. Approx 4 x 3 x 1ft travels, intermediate size between benchtop and floor-scale units. Aiming at $10-15k machine in the $3k region.

Build the efficient and reliable all metal structure 3D Printer. Improved significantly with new concepts for printers. Great quality and up to 400 mm/s print speed (very fast). Built with heated bed, hybrid bowden suspended extruder, and counterweight (tested printing 21 hours straight with no motors hot). Optional smart controller for computerless printing. Print any kind of thermoplastic.

A 1.9 x 1 m table that uses a magnet to move a steel ball and draw geometric patterns in sand. The magnet is moved using a corexy mechanism driven by 3D printer controller board reading the patterns in the form of gcode files.

2x4 Ox with Vac table

I got lucky enough to purchase aluminum extrusions and linear motion components (and nuts/bolts/etc) at scrap metal prices when a bunch of industrial automation equipment was decommissioned. The only problem is that the aluminum extrusions are not metric sizes... they are the 1.5"x3" 80/20 series. It has presented a few challenges but nothing too bad.

I'm currently working on the CNC control box, before doing any future work on the CNC Mountain Machine. I want the controller to be future proof and as professional as I can manage. I am planning to use stepper drivers, PSU's, a motor contactor unit to turn everything on, as well as a VFD and proximity limits switches. Each video will document the process and steps involved in researching, designing, planning and assembling a controller. I am not a natural electrician so learning as I go.

We are a team representing private industry and public university all concerned about community. In the place i'm from we face problems related to prototyping industry, there's no accesibility to it, not because there is not machines to work with but the costs are really high if i want to make a single piece of any idea in order to develop a concept, our students get their degree but never were able to try any of the Hass or 3d systems machines available as it seems they need a PhD.

OX 1500 x 1000 mm

This CNC utilizes the C-BEAM extruded aluminum for the "X", "Y", and "Z" axis. The gantry will move similar to the OX along with the "Z" except I am incorporating the C-BEAM instead of the 20x60 V-RAIL. To make the system as strong as possible I am using two C-BEAM rails back to back. The "Y" axis will encompass two sets of roller on both side of the C-BEAM extruded rails for added strength. All of the plates for this were created using the C-BEAM machine I completed several month ago.

This was my first attempt for a laser platform. I'm using the OpenBuilds ACRO 20"x40 platform, 6W OptLaser, homemade z height and the xPro driver board.

TR12x3 screws, M8 wheel sets, a draw built into the design, an electronics set built onto the kit, back brace to stop C-Beam twist.

So we have new plates, stronger motors, belt drive reduction, but what should we do with them? In this article you might find the answer you were looking for as we took an “old” C-Beam machine and started to upgrade the X/Z body and added more torque and precision to the Z-axis.

Use of V-Slot for frame and rails with option to use identical 500mm uncut lengths: 8 * 20x60 x 500mm 8 * 20x40 x 500mm 7 * 20x20 x 500mm (2 cut into four identical 125mm pieces for filament holders) Use of uncut 500mm rails obtained through use of 12 joining plates for use as spacers. Alternate approach is to trim two 20x40 and 1 20x20 rail by 6-8mm each. Build volume ~400mm cubed (with dual extruders). Use of only openbuilds components! Currently in design phase...

I started designing and ordering parts for this build back in Oct 2021. Unfortunately life got in the way and I had to sideline the project to deal with more important projects. I am now back working on this project full time. I originally was building a MPCNC on this torsion box platform I built but quickly realized how difficult it would be to produce anything with good accuracy. So I decided to design my own CNC that would be more robust and accurate.

PPR = Portable Plasma/Router. A ~30x30"work area with leadscrews. Work surface is below support members. Can be placed ONTO cutting surface.

Rigid 3d printer with more than enough room for dual extruders. Easily expandable platform.

A smaller version of a standard D-bot. Smaller to fit better in my workable area and to fit my vision for the printer.

The machine has met and exceeded my expectations on repeatability and accuracy. Cost was approx £600 including the Windows tablet.

This is a build log of the Openbuilds Sphinx 55 with some 3D printed parts for the electronics and probably other parts as they come up.

This project shows how to use Openbuilds Vv slot extrusions and wheels to retrofit a Lulzbot Taz 4 or 5 printer. These modifications improve layer consistency, eliminate nozzle and bed sag, and allow for larger toolhead mounting. Variant on the OpenBuilds OX CNC Router, enlarged with 1500mm length beams for a cutting area of 48" x 48". Based on the original model, the larger of the two, with the addition of a third 20x60 beam on the gantry for strength. Estimated cost is around $1100, minus the router.

This is where I will share my attempt at building a slightly "beefier" OpenBuilds OX CNC Machine using commonly available parts in the spirit of OPENBUILDS and Open Source in general. I have a tendancy to over-build things so I will be balancing that tendacy against budget constraints and common sense as much as possible.

Textile Drawing Machine is a drawing machine thought specifically to draw on textile. Unlike other CNC machine it's dimensions follow the standard textile dimensions (1500mm) and it's on wheels to allow to draw on an unlimited area. TDM has been developed for the project Digital Wax Print, a self initiated research project, carried out by The Future Continuous, a collabration between Olivia De Gouveia and Eugenia Morpurgo.

The build is based on a 500mm C-Beam and the SeeMeCNC FlexVat. The C-Beam is both the linear motion and a structural element of the design. The frame that holds the 45 degree first surface mirror and the build vat can slide up and down the C-Beam to accommodate projectors with lenses at different elevations.
