Large leveling platform to hold a 3hp router

This is a remix of Marshal Peck's Voxel OX, with some design tweaks inspired by Makerparts and jjcolletta. It has a build area of 300mm X 300mm X 480mm, but is easily configured for just about any build area up to 500mm X 500mm X 750mm. I have used some laser cut acrylic plates and a couple of 3D printed parts in its construction, however it can be assembled using nothing but OpenBuilds parts with the exception of the heated bed and the Y axis carrier for the heated bed.

A simple build that helps you to mount the OpenBuilds Interface to the front of your machine.

This will be a complete overhaul of this router with some cool modifications.

Replaced the original Z-axis for a shapeoko with a c-beam upgrade. This upgrade required a nema 17 mount and a quiet spindle mount I printed with a 3D printer.

Dirt cheap build.

I decided to start designing this printer, this will be my solution for a more rugged printer that you can use as workhorses...

This is my second CNC build, but the first one that I design from the ground up. The base is all metal because I want to add Plasma facility later on. I used the Ox model for the gantry plates and made a few changes to adapt to my design. Since I wanted to use parts from my first CNC to save as much as possible, I kept the 5/8 Hi-Lead Screw I had from Roton for the Y and Z axis. I will also add a downdraft table to keep all parts tight on the table for cutting.

Work in progress large volume CoreXY printer

This build will hopefully be 18x18x24 build space using RAMPS 1.4 with Marlin firmware. Using NEMA 17 motors and belts to drive the X and Y axis, lead screws for the Z axis. The build plate will be heated with a delrin Y carriage for the glass and heatbed. Z axis motors will be top mounted. Possibly and ATX power supply.

Attaches router with screw clamping. Clear Skirt is 2" long or can be made longer if requested. Works well keeping dust within the chamber. It can be made to fit shapeoko, ox cnc, workbee, xcarve, 6040, laguna,piranha, millright etc. with similar setup including Bosh, Makita , dewalt 611 routers or spindles.

Build using standard parts as much as possible, Open Builds etc. To keep printer usable for more materials will be trying a heated bed with rotary elec union for the thermistor and power.

I'm building a CNC router for a long time. Here's the result on this long journee. I tried to do my best with the basic tools I have. Don't hesitate to ask if you have questions.

My original Tevo Tarantula kit was ok..... I had issues with the X gantry staying level. I got rid of the wheels and replaced them with linear block bearings. I still had some issues with the X gantry. I swapped out the plastic parts with aluminum which was much better. Still not what I want yet

My goal was to be able to enlarge my C-Beam with as many original parts as possible. I was able to recycle almost all of them with a only the two 500 mm rails left over. I used 1000 mm rails for the X Axis and I added another complete Y Axis assembly. I chose to keep it simple and I am very happy with the result!

i would like to build a sturdy motorized photographic copy stand. i have hobbled together a hand crank version using a used umbrella pole but it is not suitable as it is awkward and wobbly.

This is a C-Beam based router with V-rails used for the bed, a Sherline spindle with Jacobs chuck, closed loop stepper motors on every axis and an offline 4-axis CNC controller. A U-channel was created to guide the drag chain on the X-axis.

My first ever build. Straight C-beam with tinyg controller a few do-dads and some make do choices. Non-metric length lead screws to save long lead time. Jog knobs to cover the extra length and also practical. My old Bosch Colt never had it so good. Build out work remains, wire dressing, drag chain, vacuum, permanent base, etc.

Not sure if the Blackbox X32 is the right option here, just looking for guidance.

Gantry style rigid build

I wanted a machine that could easily switch between 3D Printing and Laser Engraving

The aim of this build is to have a CNC that can cut a FULL sheet of wood when I need it to, but also shrink down and cut smaller sheets the rest of the time. The prototype is based on an OX cnc but soon it will be completely custom using Openbuilds Parts

The Microwave Filter Tuner (MFT) combined with the University of Regina’s tuning algorithm automatically tunes microwave filters by using a custom CNC machine with a computer vision system for identifying, mapping, and tuning each filter element, providing improved consistency, flexibility, and accuracy compared to traditional methods. The MFT is low cost and is capable of tuning multiple filter configurations with minimal preparation.

I wanted a CNC machine that was able to do dovetails and other box joints. I also wanted to have it be able to tilt so it would take up less space when I was working on other projects.

How to convert an angle grinder into an electric drill? Remove the angle grinder, leaving only one main motor, and then find a suitable intermediate roller with a point drill to assemble it.

This project has been a steep learning curve in an unfamiliar area for me. It has been a very rewarding experience and has opened up so many more possibilities to pursue in the future.

This build includes the design of a large FDM 3D printer. This machine has a 796mm by 796mm by 900mm (LxWxH) build volume. Motion is controlled by servo motors and the printer runs on python-based marlin firmware.

This items are so cool that they need to be together, so I decided to create brackets that connect both pieces together

X is 1000mm, Y is 1500 mm, Z is 1000mm. It Rotates 360 degrees and Tilt also can move 360 degrees. I also have a motor that controls the focus of the camera.

This build summarizes my CNC milling and laser engraving machine conversion from a dimensional lumber frame and electrical mess to an all aluminum frame with a safe and well constructed (IMHO) control system with the resources I had available.

This is a totally original build of an od id grinder and thread grinder, I hope.

I have built four of these frames. The first pictured I have been using for maybe a year or two and bought the clamps. The last three I have made I have built my own clamps with openbuild parts. I am still working on the design. At present I use wedges to apply pressure to the side of the wood and block. I am working on a cam system to apply pressure. I just bought 8mm screws with Knobs for quicker adjustment. I will update the build when I make these improvements.

Simple upgrade of the Y axis on a Cbeam sphinx from 500mm to 1000mm.

Built a 32"x40" ACRO Kit for my 10watt Endurance Laser. Put it in a stand alone clamshell cabinet, added a 340cfm 6" fan and variable speed switch for the fan. Using LIght Burn for my primary software. It seems to be work well.

Modify a Gen1 Cube printer into a small cnc router to cut pcbs and light (VERY light) milling work. Also easy to swap out the rotary head and mount a laser head for engraving.

For a long time I had a project to buy a CNC, in time I have evaluated several possibilities. I chose the option of a pre-constructed and scalable machine according to my needs, with sufficient rigidity features to do work of average importance. The starting investment was important to take into account to allow changes from the open source domain.

The idea was to use materials from previuos failed projects into a succesful one. I have build this tiny but powerfull CNC machine mainly using the universal gantry plates for the X and Y axis. Also another innovative part is the fact that I assembled the Z gantry with 2 aluminum sections of 20X40 and one aluminum seccion of the 20X20. I used NEMA 17 stepper motors with GT2 pulleys. This was designed on Fusion360
